    lol this car has been.
    he "drifts" all the time
it was a fun car anyways.

but i need some help/ suggestions what is the easiest way to get these engines out? sofar i have the exhaust mani off i/c piping rad fan ect.

i was wondering if it would be easier leaving the transmission on the car or on the motor?

also would it be smart for me to take the intake manifold off the motor and leave it in the engine bay or would it be easier to just take it off later? im not sure if taking it off would be a good idea since idk how to unplug the injectors without breaking them lol.

and i think that is about it for now so far i think i got it fidured out

Take out the Engine and Tranny so that you can reach the two "BITCH" bolts to disasemble the tranny from the motor. I think it would be easier.

Now my question is do I need to remove the Engine in my R33 to remove my Auto tranny and put a manual in?

okay so the bitch bolts im guessing are at the top kinda around the valve covers?
im sure if you take the X member off of the tranny and take the flywhell inspection cover off and undo the converter it may work.
dont ask me though this is my first time takeing a rwd motor out of a import it is taking me forever, so far i spent maybe 5hrs on it and still not out

just thinking out loud but could it be wrist pin rattle?
i dont know if its common on these motors or not but it sounds like that could be it.

yeah i was going to just drop the oilpan and see if a bearing or something spun but i have a freshly built head steel head gasket and arp headstuds so may aswell put it in.

anyways i took to much off if you ask me. but what im going to do is unbolt the mounts, not sure how the driveshaft comes off. if ijust unbolt the one side of the "half shaft"? unbolt the x member form the tranny undo the mounts and pull it ahead a foot or so then undo the 2 "bitch bolts at the top. i wish i didnt take extra shifts at work now lol. hopefully tuesday i will have the new one in. since that is my only day off.

cant wait im tired of driving the burger burner. i want my joy back

okay dumb question for the shifter i tooke my shift nob off and boot, do i have to take that plate with the 4 bolts that hold the rubber thing around the shifter? idk what its called that is the only thing that needs doing so far.
also go the new motor ready i hope it runs better than the last, even though i figured out that i dont have to take the intake manifold off this time to put it all back together

Thats a great idea. I Think we should all do a bulk purchase straight from japan. Get up like 100,000 bucks by selling skyline cookies to kids. Than, we go take that money and send 2 people from the group with a Japanese translator so we can get a lot of skyline clips and only have to sell 25 percent of the Parts to break even and the rest is gravy for all of our skylines. Do you people think that is smart? Selling Skyline Cookies? haha

                      lol awesome idea
im sure millions would buy them you drive down the road wit ha skyline and everyone knows what it is, even some girls haha.
we might see guys in big winged civics and neons with cookies on their car that reads gtr instead of type r :P

or fortune cookies, everyone likes those, but these ones have skylines on them.

anyways i ended up buying a motor from jdm source ib calgary, i was going to go for autodream but the guy didnt realy seem to know much or any of the questions i asked.

but shiab(i think) says 130+psi compression across all six, is that a normal psi i have searched but cant find anything about it, it seems a little low i was expecting around 160or 180. but im not sure what the stock c/r ratio is but with this low of compression i think that is a tad under 8.5?

is 130psi good for a compression number?

130psi if you did the compression right is fine but I would ask if it was a dry test. Chances are it was a wet test. When the numbers go below 120psi is when you will want to consider replacing the piston rings, or rebuilding the bottom end.

I would be shocked if all cylinders had a compression across all 6 of 130psi, I would assume they are all AROUND 130psi. And just for your info, factory c/r is around 176psi i think. But don't cross your fingers, you will never see that out of a 19 year old (or newer) car. Unless you bought it off someone that baby'd their Skyline. Typicaly you will see them around the 140psi, and that is a good number.

BTW, are you looking for any parts? because I started building my car up for drifting and have spares of a few things.

Some freakish people get gtr motors out in a day. GTS-T motor comes out with the tranny, how easy can you ask for? lol.
Yup, we got a GTR engine out in a few hours.. a RB20 swap is EASY. Take it out with the tranny (less PITA), put new clutch in the new engine, transfer tranny and throw the new engine in. There aren't a lot of things to hook up. If you have someone who knows a bit about Skylines you could get it done in a weekend of.. steady, light working.

130 is fine. it dosent really matter if it's a bit lower like that, as long as there are no big gaps in compression, like 130 and 110 then you're OK. It means your rings are wearing evenly which is a good thing.
