It normally runs on 100 octane or so in Japan. But the octane ratings in Japan and downunder in Australia, NZ are different to USA, Canada (where there's Skylines). Downunder there's 98 octane at pump, but can run E85?, etc.

Didn't notice any missing on my car when the studs snapped, but leak probably wasn't big enough. 1st, last studs breaking are common due to exhaust swinging around (all of the exhaust studs are meant to be changed every 10 years or so). Also change hanger bushes for exhaust, as they are usually the cause due to age, fatigue (stretched). Some put a flexi in front pipe (like you do on Honda's) to prevent this problem from happening again. There's a stud and a coil. The stud screws into middle of coil (coil fits into stud hole in head) and there's 3x stud sizes from memory (I think screw part on stud on head side has a different thread size hence the different sizes for studs, coils). Can buy them from Nissan dealership parts department if you know the part number.

It could be a leaky injector if intermittent which does make it sound rough and could make engine knock (or sound like knock which ECU picks up), like running on 5 cylinders.

Well the car definitely sounds like a cylinder is shutting down but my ECU flashes 5 5 so i looked into that and 55 means everythings good? If i had a leaky injector, would i still hear it ticking? All of the shops in town are telling me i have an injector sticking open leaking too much fuel into the cylinder, which made sense to me because when it starts running like that when i let off the gas i almost always get a backfire so theres fuel gettin dumped but not burnt by the sounds of it.

I think 55 means no error codes. I use Nistune tuning software (can retune stock R32 ECU in realtime via Consult / diagnostic plug under dash), so any sensor error codes pop up on computer screen and says how many engine starts ago that it happened. Also can monitor sensors in real time.

Some say stock ECU can pickup a leaking injector and show a error code, but haven't seen any evidence of this.

I've noticed injectors on some peoples cars fail at high km (over 200,000km). But maybe earlier than that due to clogged fuelfilter letting dirt get into injector?

just replaced fuel filter about 2 months ago. it seems to run fine with injection cleaner in. i will try octane booster next time i put some gas in it and see.

skym your car must run absolutely perfect with all the knowledge you poses lol

            but,
i don't know what your saying about there being 3 different thread sizes..they are all the exact same. and only one part number(ill list numbers below)
the thing that has different sizes are the thick iron washers(these are the bushings) other then these bushings the studs, nuts, and washers are the same.
there are 2 sizes of yokes(bushings) 22mm and 24mm only exhaust ports 3 and 4 have 22mm bushings and the rest are 24mm.
take the part numbers to Nissan and grab what you need. im assuming you've lost the bushing and i don't have that part number. you should post a thread in the WTB section trying to grab some.

            exhaust manifold hardware:
            bushings – 22mm ?????-????? 24mm ?????-?????
            studs - 01151-00471
            washers - 14037-01E00
            nuts - 08912-8401A or 8912-84010

as for the injectors do you have the stockers in? if so always a good time to upgrade
what im getting at is its a good idea to buy brand new injectors and i don't think you can get the stock 270cc ones new.
i upgraded my injectors with used gtr injectors and ive had head aches ever since with leaks
should be able to get a cheap set of ebay just make sure they're brand name like SARD or something. when you take everything apart give the fuel rail a good inspection inside the ports for any burs/scratches, if there's some just polish with dremel with polishing adapter and light abrasive polishing compound

I don't know that much compared to some I know. My car runs smooth at idle when there's no airleaks. Also is responsive. It feels like a NA RB engine but with more response.

On my car it has coils, studs due to damaged holes. One hole (last hole near firewall) nearly required welding and retapping by cylinder head specialist.

ahh k that makes sense if it was re tapped that the studs would be different size.

Added a video of the exhaust, engine, and starting. The way the car is idling in the video is how it idles when its running good. When starting the car it struggled for a second, it usually only does this in the mornings the first time i go to start it and to a greater extent but sometimes will struggle a tiny bit when the car has already been run. I posted a video and thread way back when i got the car because i thought it had something going on, when listening to the exhaust you can hear drops in the idle, very quick drops, i was told by members that it was fine but maybe it has something to do with this. Also i tried to catch a tick i have going on, im not sure if its a lifter or not, it seems kind of fast for a lifter but im not sure. Anyways, maybe the video will help, when the car starts running crappy again ill get it on video.

Also i got the car into higher rpms today to see if my boost drops, i have 12psi until about 4000rpm then it drops to 11psi, then after 5500 rpm it drops to about 8psi and i stopped at about 6500 where i had 7 - 8psi boost.

lol well my cluster may work but my engine...not so much. Does anything in the video sound unusual? the engine was nice and hot as you can see by the temp guage so it was all up to temperature, i just had it out for a drive right before the video and it seems to be running good but it still has the injection cleaner in. Tuesday ill run straight gas and see if it starts misfiring.

Car started running like crap again, fueled up and put octane booster in instead this time, car started running good after 30 seconds, got home and parked it, when i went and started it next though it was running like crap again and doesnt seem to be clearing up now. I will have a video up shortly, i messed with TPS wires, MAF, coilpack harness, show the ECU code im getting (55 - no errors) and ran a real time O2 sensor scan which comes up LEAN. Would post a video but nothing will let me upload

Car runs good with injection cleaner in but seems to run crappy with straight gas and with octane booster?

Edit: hmmm... car is now once again running properly... so if i let the car sit for a bit, it runs good again which sounds like a coilpack cooling down? Also, after car started running properly again i cleaned the MAF with Sensorclean, idle picked up a tiny bit, maybe 50rpm...
