Hey all,
Trying to bring a 90 gts-t back to life after sitting untouched for 5 years. The first issue to manifest its self was a massive hesitation under boost, like the engine just lost all power while continuing to rev. This issue was solved with a new fuel filter, but shortly after a new issue arose.
First start of the day it always takes several tries and sputters to life. Once driven or warmed it will start perfectly until it cools again. As it stands the car will struggle to go anywhere while the coolant is less than full temp, until positive boost is reached at which point it gains all power and takes off. As soon as it becomes fully warm the car appears to run normally, although I feel it somewhat lacks power still. I've run the car on laptop diagnostics while the issue was present and it appears that the timing is being retarded to 7 degrees while this issue is happening. In the process I've done:
-New fuel filter.
-New/gapped Spark plugs
-New pcv
-New o2 sensor
-Gutted Cat (suspected back pressure may be an issue)
-Vacuum at idle is 19 in/hg steady, no apparent boost or vac leaks.
-clean IACV+throttle+MAF, checked and cleaned most elec connectors, inspected MAF solder joints, injector cleaner, sea foamed, reset idle, reset ECU ect.
-Tried blocking off cold start/ aux-air valve, no difference (suspected internal vac leak here).
-Put a gauge on fuel line. Pressure is 38 psi at idle, climbing normally with boost.
-coils are reading 1.3 ohms resistance, but there does not appear to be any spark break up at any rpm, only a retardation in timing.
The car currently gets about 80-85 km/10 liters of gas. I'm unsure if this is poor mileage, but I feel as though it's not the best.
I've got a z32 engine coolant temp sensor coming in the mail as a cheap fix attempt. At this point the only things I've not tried are Cam Angle sensor, Knock sensors, checking/setting base timing, or a different ECU.
On a different note I've found the pcv valve and fuel filter from the 300zx a direct match. I suspect that the cold start valve, IACV, CAS are also a direct match visually and with elec connector. Unsure of actual compatibility but I'm interested in finding a parts z32 to pick from and find out!
Your input and opinion are greatly appreciated!
