Bleh speaking of Supra's.. I saw one at the drag races last weekend and was so excited because I had never seen one in person.. I go and take a look at it.. look inside.. and what do I see? AUTOMATIC! ERRgghhh! Why!?!?!!!!!

Anyways, honestly, I'd rather have a GTR, but I'm being bias because I own one and I have never been in a Supra.. I've never had any problems with my GTR... knock on wood... but mind you my car only has 54,000 km's ... either way, I love it, and I think its worth the extra money you have to spend on maintaining it!!!

I agree with the above. My car was in great condition when I received it and required almost nothing to pass OOP and regular maintenance since. Never broken down and of the 13 skylines that came to Hot nite in the city in most travelled from out of town and I never heard of any mechanical problems with them.

Everyone rages on automatic Supra's, yes 6 speeds are funner to drive but the auto in the MKIV is one of the best for its generation. Been able to hold 750hp is not an easy feet. I say this because I own an auto

We've had this debate at our ship since our first Supra TT came into our shop; here is my thoughts on the car...

          1) Styling: Supra's are one of the sexiest cars on the road; Skylines get a close second prize

          2) Interior: Supra's are more up to date in styling; better interior trim, but oriented to the driver; you get the feeling you are in a bubble with the supra; the gtr is a more traditional layout; race capable and tons more passenger and storage room than a supra.

          3) Performance: Stock for Stock; both vehicles are excellent performers. Wheel spin is not that big of an issue when putting down the power. With the GTR you are more aware and a part of the car; with the Supra you are slightly removed from the power; the power is there in the Supra; and deceptively quick with lots of torque. You can drop the transmission into 6th cruise at 140 without realising it and never have to shift on the highway. With the GTR you can hear and feel the speed you are doing. The steering response is more direct and responsive with the GTR. The supra is far quieter and smoother than the GTR.

          4) Parts. Parts are more readily available for the Supra than the GTR. Even with all the GTR's here. The Supra motor and tranny are stronger than the GTR.

I couldn't really decide between the two vehicles; if I could I would own both!

It all comes down to making sure not to buy garbage GTR's or Supra's!! I guess I'll be patient and when I find a mint condition of either..I'll just buy it and take good good care of it....

Hmm, so is the oil problem fixed and the engine more reliable, so is it up to par of the reliability of GTS models? There's some pretty cheap 93 GTRs for sale in Quebec right now, around 12000 mark, would you guys recommend buying it?

I guess I just feel like a sportscar shouldnt be automatic... I thought automatic was made for luxury cars to begin with? It just doesnt seem right to me to see a gtr, a supra, or any other sportscar to be automatic. I duno....

To be fair, neither the skyline or the supra are true sports car. They more like a GT saloon car.

Be carefull with some of those montreal / quebec import shops
Check the car over like any other car you'd purchase

theres lots of decent GTR available in the GTA, one of them being mine

i disagree. the GTR was designed purely for sport (as in motorsport). ok the examples we drive are toned down from that spec but what else do you consider a true sports car?

Really? Daaamn. I know lates Double clutch manual (DSG) gear boxes are faster and better then manuals. But OLD AUTOMATICS should be inferior to any manual.
