Velders has summed it up perfectly. Thanks for the book info, something to look into.

The guy who builds the Dodsons SuperGT, Targa Skylines is ex V8 Supercar engineer -

Dodson manufacture World Leading Dual-Clutch Transmission Upgrades for street, circuit, drag-racing and high-end performance cars. Over 200 dealers worldwide.

That Zebra R32 that's forsale has a tubeframe front end (R32 GTE chassis with holinger gearbox, RB30, Motec ECU, etc). Runs 58sec around Pukekohe (Gibson Group-A R32GTR ran 61sec on same racetrack).

Also 6sec import dragcar from USA. Faster trapspeed than it ran in the USA -

Everyones got to start somewhere, even if there aren't tracks everywhere, if thats what does it for you why not go for it. Same goes for slammed cars with perfect stance, you may not live in the most suitable place to drive a car like that, but if thats what does it for you, go for it. Its quite interesting to see the different points of view held by two groups who enjoy the same car.

Snow, you're a geezer buddy. lol.

Honestly though, that's cool, have you decided on a ride height that suits your needs? Also, have you got some coils that you can keep at that height with the ability to preload the springs?

I'm getting my corner weights done in the spring... or so I was thinking about it for track days at Rivers Edge..

And I don't think I'm too old (unless 22 is our age cut-off).

But yes I get your point... You're either too old and technically driven and taking this all way to seriously for the internet, or you're just obsessed. Who knows...

SOOO MUCH better there for a mature discussion on this matter, and they have MANY experts on the PERFECT stance for your car!!!
Hardly. This thread started out as a simple question, which quickly descended into a tit-suckling preaching to the choir circle jerk of SKYLINE ELITISM 4x4 love in the name of the vehicle's monetary value.

Pick up a copy of "Race Car Vehicle Dynamics" by Milliken & Milliken. That would be a good start.

JesseM, I don't know a fraction of what these engineers with degrees that work on V8 supercars know. Or people that rebuild shocks for competition use everyday. If you have seen their custom project cars, you would think these dudes know their stuff. They build their own chassis, outer skin for chassis, custom aluminium undertrays, adjustable suspension arms, rollcages / bar for rollover protection, know a good suspension setup to use, etc. It's a specialist field and they are flippen good at what they do.

I don't like to show off my car, as it's nothing special.

It was all started with me and my idiotic self thinking that skyline owners didn't SLAM there car, or lower them properly.

I jumped to a conclusion which got into a huge argument which actually turned out to be beneficial for me cause I learned quite a bit

lol, yeah i always think the same, i would love to see skym's car, he has alot of knowledge about these machines, im sure his car would be an amzingly put togethr well rounded track/DD car.

yeah i agree with Feastauto, it all depends what you want to do with your car, i think the original question was more why dosent anyone do it? and turned more into a trashing of 240 owners which got us skyline owners trashed on.
in the end there is alot of crap in this thread lol.

Everyone has their own ride height, alignment settings that work best.

Just changing tyres affects handling. V8 supercars can adjust to these changes via in cabin devices before leaving pit lane. I gather they are worked out before race, as they are told the settings to use over radio.

Alot of people in motorsport (who are engineers and have degrees in this field) know how to work out ride height. To setup a racecar properly cost's alot of $$$ that most simply don't have.

Downunder, we go to motorsport experts for suspension setup advice, revalving of shocks to suit setup, etc.
