    RB26 > RB20 anyday

and if u want an R33 there are a few GTRs now for sale but everyone is charging up the ying yang for em.

and by a crap load of money i mean i get the car then have to dump a grand or more just to get a safety i mean i know it happens, but i want to at least get to drive it for a week before i have to spend
don't hold your breath, i never made it a week...

but like everyone says once you get them back up and running they are probably one of the most awesome cars you will ever drive. easy to make power if you take care of them.

      gtrs have rb26dett
r33 gts-t (equivalent at least) has the rb25det
      the r32 gts-t has the rb20det....
they're all pretty fantastic platforms to be honest....

i've driven all of them and the 20 is the most fun i feel... but then again i could be speaking out of my ass here... depends on mods too

well i want to keep the exterior completely stock, well except for maybe a r34 conversion but we will see as i find the r33 looks pretty close to it. but i do want the r34 stock gold/bronze rims, want to upgrade the brakes, and then nice clean interior, maybe a bit of a stereo system, and after all that gonna look at the engine i want to go for 600whp

RB26 is a waste of money. parts to expensive , rev's like a puss, spins bearings like a champ, has more things that can fail on it etc.

In regards to insurance you should look at the stickied Insurance for Ontarians thread http://forums.gtrcanada.com/eastern-...ans-23080.html as many people are having trouble getting insurance at a reasonable rates, look at the legalese section as well.

Take a look at the build threads and see what 600WHP often costs you both in parts and repairs.

Also if you dont buy from someone on the forum make sure that you work with a reputable importer that can fit a quality Skyline into your budget, searching will seperate the good from the bad fairly quickly.

As stated above some basic searching will save you a ton of cash in the long run, also stickies are a wealth of pertinent information and many of your questions can probably be answered there.

Do not get a rb20 gts-t if you have the money. Because at the end, it is still a gts and rb20. I don't mean GTS sucks but for the extra money, GTR are worth it. You get better engine/drivetrain, seats brakes, body panel. Even if you are looking to upgrade anyways, the GTR parts worth more when you sell it. It just make more sense in an economical way.

Go with the 26 or GTR if you have the money. They don't break easily if you do proper maintenance and upgrade. Do it right or do it twice.

well id like to get a summer out of it just getting used to the car not pushing it. then come winter. in the garage out comes the engine and i want to replace rings and bearings and possible upgrade to internal parts. dotn know where to go with this engine yet i know they are capable of retarded power but i figure 600whp is more than enough, thats what about 800 at the crank? cause if i dont set a goal ill have a car thats crazy for street use. lol. im like tim the tool man.. more power. lol. but if i can find a nice r33 mechanical and interior with a few dings and scratches im ok with that its going in for paint almost right away anyway.

600whp is a very lofty goal to be honest. I have sunk thousands and thousands of dollars into my car and it is finally going to be done and dyno'd friday. I am hooping for 500 on the RG heartbreak, but you just never know. What sort of bedget do you actually have...this is what it really all comes down too....

well budget isnt as big as i would like it be. cause if it was i would just take the car drop it off and say go nuts. lol. what ive been thinking of doing is getting myself a second engine to build so i can take my time and get top of the line products and take the one in the car out and change rings and bearings.

Once again ...you have not stated any sort of budget for the car...or teh "work" you plan to be doing..We can be a lot more help here if we know what we have to work with..

Just my two cents (cause Snow pretty much covered what i would normally say) but if your still at a point where you don't understand differences or even know what an rb20 is vs rb26 (not to mentioned bringing up an R33 in the same sentence) then you're not ready for a skyline.

Don't rush it. read up for the next couple months. If you're genuinely interested and committed to a skyline, then you'll still be interested (if not even more so) after taking a person time out for 2 months. Start by learning the basics. Like what a nissan is vs what a toyota might look like. then you can upgrade to advanced readings like rb20 vs rb26.

With your insistence that 600 WHP is a realistic and reliable goal I see a kaboom in your future

I've been reading all sorts of troubleshooting and all types of builds on 5 forums since 6 months!!! Reading is your friend.. trust me! You wont jump in the water if you can't swim. You won't buy a skyline if you don't know how to fix it OR (and most important) pay for it lol.

It's a very interesting car and it deserves respect.
