I'm not sure where some of you are getting your pricing from but it's outrageous, Im seriously considering buying a R34 GTR and have been following the prices on pistonheads,check it out.

If you take a look at Japanese R34 auctions they frequently sell for $40k+. There were two beautiful examples I saw a few weeks ago that sold for around $48k. They were absolutely mint, one was black and one was bayside blue.


Edit: Just looked at "Piston Heads". Just so you're aware, $26,000 GBP is about $41,000 and $29,000 is about $46,000.

id love to own a r34 but most likly wont happen, the price will sky rocket when they get here. most likly ill get a s15 in 2014

Hard to say what the R34 value will due when they become legal for export to Canada in 2014, it may go up or down. In 3 years the R35 may have depreciated enough to the point where you can purchase one for $55-$65k. If it comes down to being within $15k price difference it will be a tough decision.
%90 of the cars on piston heads are modified hence the higher cost,you will be able to get stock R34's for much cheaper I'm sure but it will take some shopping around. Also if you do most of the import process yourself or do it privately and not through a import dealership you will save a small fortune.

When the time comes though I will need to make the decision about either buy a R35 or the R34. I wasn't a fan of the R35 when it first came out but I think that's because I love my 32 so much and the similarities they share are few and far between. After realizing the potential of the R35 and watching tuning companies take it to a whole new level I am begining to love the car.

Whether I choose the R34 or the R35 I will never sell my R32, I used to dream about owning the R32 GTR and now I finally have one. In my eyes I own a piece of Japanese culture that revolutionized the import world and set and broke records that back then were unobtainable. How many cars do you know that were banned from racing leading to developing a new class to race in because they were to fast. Most will argue they are old technology and are outdated and over rated but everytime I drive my Gtr itreminds me why I bought one in the first place..

I doubt the price will change by a whole lot, the largest depreciation occurs in the first few years.

Some used R35's can already be had for the high $60's sourced out of the US (example). You have to remember that the upkeep on an R35 is going to be significantly higher than that of any other GT-R to date (yay $800 worth of tranny fluid!)

Lastly, modifications generally do little to increase (and often actually decrease) the value of a vehicle. The majority of the R34 GT-R's I've watched go at auction for the equivalent of the high 30's/low $40,000's CAD. Of course they can be had for less, but I'm talking about a low mileage GT-R in excellent condition, largely (or completely) stock (which is what I'd prefer to purchase myself). That has nothing to do with importation costs, these are auctions in Japan I'm speaking of (and brokerage is generally ~$1k flat. You pay through the nose in taxes and other fees)

This is one that was $28,000. 1999 production year too. After importation and taxes, though, even this one would have been in the mid 30's if it was to be imported into Canada and was legal to do so. Not considering a brokerage fee, there'd be $7-8k in exportation/importation/taxes :

My R32 is just around till the R34 is out where I'll buy one, then sell the R32 cause I won't get much for it anyways. Of course, I'll wait for the nice ones to clear through.

Iam not going near an R34 until 2017. Want me a Vspec II Nur. Gives me lots of time to save! Lastly, I will NEVER sell my R32. I will probably turn it into a Street Legal Track slut when I get my R34

i probably won't be into cars that much come 2014. I got my skyline now. I'll keep it until im tired of it. I love the r34,but i don't love them that much to want to drop 40,000 on it. No way. Its just a fricking car. And then gambling if it will even be legal or not.

Ryan, Im going to feel sorry for you when you wait till r34's are "legal" and then Canada changes the laws and then you can't own any skyline. Seriously. Get an r32. LEARN ABOUT IT. then get an r34 if thats what you really want.

I'll be leaving on a world trip come June 2013 anyway, which will probably last 2-3 years. Might have to sell skyline to fund the start of the trip. Who knows man. Time grabs you by the wrist and directs you where to go

i would be curious to see when the time comes around how many people actually end up getting a r34 lol its my dream but realistically its just not gonna happen. i guess ill just have to stick with my built r32 hopefully its running by 2014

If they're legal, I assure you I'm buying one. Cash is already allocated just for that If they go down in price, I'll have a good mod cash pool, if not, I'll swap the R32 engine into it and vice versa, then sell the old arse 32. If they're not legal, I've got a GT40 kit car lined up as a real super car project.

If you can't afford a 32, I can't see someone affording a 34 that is 4-6 times more expensive. That being said, I'd hate for someone to buy a car with all their cash and live in mom's basement while eating ichiban noodles lol.

again Franc, there is nothing to worry about. I will not sacrifice my future and well being for a car. I will only make a move with cars when my feet are firmly planted on the ground with a career on the go.
