I originally wanted to winterdrive my gtst but in the end I decided it wasn't going to be worth it. Id rather drive it 6-8 months a year for 10 years then all year for 3 years.

There are people who have skylines for their collector status and want to keep them in good shape for a long time, and those who just want a high powered cheap dd vehicle. There in lies the big difference between who will and who will not drive it during the winter.

I'm not saying either are necessarily good or bad, to each their own.

I agree greatly with this, to each their own.

However we can share with those "collector status" cars how much fun it is to winter drive them right ?

In all seriousness I would not try it if you want to collect or preserve your car. Even then like you mentioned an undercoat and fresh set of snow tires are a must. I don't carry and extra weight however for weight and safety I carry a full size spare (GTR rim + All season tire) in the trunk.

Is an undercoat even going to solve you problems? Your suspension and under the panels will be attacked. I'm gonna drive my new GT-R all winter long because I only drive a few times a month.

                          EDIT

Does anyone know what size winters to put on the stock GT-R? Will 16 inch steel nissan rims work?

I happen to have a near new set of winter tires that are GTR size. They came off a fellow GTRcer's car but wouldn't fit on my 240 lol. They are Marangoni, badass set. Search em up! If you're interested I can have them shipped via greyhound, guessing less than $150 to BC. PM for price.
