Gtrjon.. I've read a lot of ur post and you are a very intelligent person.. I honestly did not intend to get in a scuffle with you.. And I apologize.. Also did mean for my post to be ignorant.. Keep me in mind when you sell your 32, I have a bunch of boys that would pick it up in a heart beat.. But am I wrong that you guys don't issue titles and just sign over you registration card??

    Take care bro..

Hum, GodZsoN you know what it means to have a car JUST for show and display RIGHT. The little part that mean's you'll NEVER be able to register it for road use EVER.

I'm not sure for you, but for me I can tell you it a BIG difference between a car for (show and display) and a car I can actually drive on the road.

Actually, I think that the difference is so BIG that in my book I wouldn't even consider them directed at the same market, and why you even brought this up is beyond me. Did you even check how much it would cost to buy, import, clear, insure a 1999 Skyline GTR R34 V-SPEC Early Model Limited Edition, or even how many are even available. I can tell you right now it's going to be a very expensive piece to have as a ornament in a garage/collection to never leave unless in a trailer.

But to each there own I guess.

Sorry, but not true.. You can bring it in permanently!! title and register it.. drive it up to 2500 miles a year.. It won't pass are OBD2 emissions.. So you have to get collector car insurance, which will only allow you to drive it that much anyway.. Also their not going to come pound on your door making sure your only driving 2500 miles.. I've talked to NHTSA as long as its a 1999 gtr they will sign off on the permission form.. Problem is you have to jump through hoops which will require you to go to japan about 3 times over a 6 month process.. I can do canada 3 times but not japan.. But you are right about one thing, to each there own..

Plus I'd drive my r33 daily.. Like I already do.. And drive the r34 gtr every once in a while, like my homie already does.. He has a 2000 vspec II that was imported this very way...

          Have a good night gentlemen..

          Peace

usa is sooooooooooooooooooo big and cops are soooooooooooooooooooo unaware that no one cares down there.

as long as you know people you can title these cars...... the going to japan 3 times is unnecessary, its really quite simple.

godzson pm or email me cooke91@gmail.com

Ok so im a serving in the US air force right now. Im currently stationed in okinawa and bought myself a 91 R32 GTR.. i plan on bring her to the US in 2016 once its old enough for that 25 year rule.. but from what ive been reading, the r32 does not pass safety tests and cannot be street legal.. my question is even if it is 25 years old will i be able to drive it around or only keep it as a show car... also what would i have to to to modify it... most of the posts ive read on other sites were from as long as 5 years ago.. dont really know what has changed..

ive been slowly restoring this beauty with my lowly A1C rank pay which isnt easy.. i dont want it all to go to waste..

I have the same question, but as I understand it, after 25 years it will be exempt from safety and emmission regs.

First couple of months you may be able to find someone in the US who will buy a Canadian based car due to proximity, but I seriously doubt the US buyers will only look at Canada. You will have to compete with the Japanese exporters and wholesalers too.

As for improperly clearing Customs, not declaring the car to NHTSA and titling it illegally, you're on your own. Sooner or later it will catch up to you, and you will get a lot of grief from ICE (and US Customs which is a sub of ICE, and therefor a sub or Department of Homeland Security), NHTSA, and EPA. And CARB if you live there. And at state level, the state DMV. Lots of departments and forms you will have to knowingly fill out with false information, and a large paper trail they can (and will) prosecute you with.

To the OP I'll tell you right now that if you plan on swapping the engine from the 34 into the 32 it will not be legal to import.

block numbers are checked to chassis numbers by the EPA at the border. If they do not match they CAN NOT be imported. The vehicle must come across the border with the original engine that it rolled off the assembly line with in 89. The block that is true to that car not just any rb20.

& as far as legally importing a 34.. Good luck, the reason that is in the edit with NHTSA was from when Motorex was big. There were a handful of 34's that became street legal. So all the ones that meet that exception are already here & owned. Those are the ones you see on ebay for $40k+

                                BTW
I am an American, have done a ton of research, spoke with customs directly, I have a pretty good idea of what the process will be to get one over the border but in all honesty it'll be much less of a head ache for us to set up a pre order from an importing company ie. Nostalgia Imports. They started taking down payments & reservations on 32's as of today Dec. 1st. they handle everything to get it here and legalized. All you have to do is get it from New York to where ever you're located. If I don't find one from them I'll definitely be in the market for one from one of you CanCan's.
