To answer the question. We personally checked in 2012, when we imported our NISMO Nissan GT-R's under Show or Display. US Customs told us it was too messy with month to month, that it was on the Calendar Year of manufacture. If you look at the 3520-1 it is very clear. The HS7 is a little more ambiguous.

i live in the states and have seen many Skylines around my area. Someone is actually trying to sell a 1990 GTST with under 120kms on it for $8500. And no one is willing to pay that much. My buddy bought a 90 GTR with 55km on it for under $14k last year. It was pretty clean with tons of aftermarket mods as well.
There's a difference between a legal one and an illegal one. I'm sure people will pay more for one they know is legal and cannot be stolen from them if the federal government ever gets upset.
That said, right drive has one listed at 25 grand cause its us legal. I don't think tey will be quite worth that

I know I am a newbie but I am actively looking to enjoy a GTR like Canada has for years. Anyone looking to sell a 1989? I am looking to buy a 89 GTR and have cash in hand. $500 finders fee if I buy a car someone found for me. Email is indyboy1990@juno.com or message me here.
Any R32 in the US that is not 25 years old was imported either illegally or under what I call "borrowed permission". Any vehicle that is imported under ANYTHING except the 25 year rule is subject to removal at any time. I know there are a few down there that will defend to the death that their car is different and that can't happen to them, but the reality is, IF the FEDs want it gone, it's gone. Probably you would win the lottery before that would happen.....but it can happen.
In the end, any car brought in any other way will always be tagged as a special case and can never be retro legalized to the same as an actual 25 year import......ie: untouchable (unless the FEDs decide they want to screw with that too, which is about as likely as our FEDs screwing with the 15 year law).
