this was the 2nd RHD related death in qubec the first was a few days ago and was also in a civic some 19yr old...

this does not make RHD look bad... it makes the 19yr old demographic look bad...

you cant see one accident and base a statistic off of it... compare these 2 collisions to the hundreds or thousands every year in LHD vehicles of the same age ... hell i bet there are hundreds of civics that are driven by half wits who crash RHD/LHD doesnt make a difference... why? because it is not the car its the driver and this just goes to show that collsiions like these are age related...

if you think this kind of stuff makes us look liek street racing ricers then you obviously dont understand the situation...

to us, it makes 19yr olds look like hte problem
to the RHD hater it fuels there fire
to the rest of the public who thinks for themselves it makes them think" yet another dumb kid dies" they dont care about what side the moron drives on if he crashes his car.... RHD or LHD the result would have been the same
How many kids with A.D.D. does it take to screw in a light bulb?

it's exactly the way I think.

and how the gvt should think

however. the transport minister is a loose canon.. she does whatever passes tru her mind.

and takes us by the hand one step closer to road dictatorship

This DOES make the people who drive RHD or tuner cars look bad. Not to everybody, but to those people (yes there are lots of them out there) who lump all RHD in with the dumb teenagers who drive dangerously in a flashy ricer. Sure it's not hurting everybody's opinion of us, but we don't need any more people with even more of a reason to dislike us because of their own ignorance.

I am wondering if anyone has ever watched Canada's Worst Drivers? Or other branch of Worst Drivers in other countries. Should just send the government those T.V. series, and if they are not completely dumb, they will see it is not the car, but totally the drivers. We have the videos to show, why not use it..

Here's a reply I got from the SAAQ on the matter:

              Mr X,

This is to acknowledge that we have received your comments and that they will be filed for analysis. However, I'd like to give you precisions on what is promoted in your communication and answer some of your questions.
The decision of the Minister of Transport of Quebec was not in any way dictated or influenced by any lobbyist nor the ICBC study results. The said study is given as a reference.

              The real concerns are :
1- These vehicles are designed to be driven on the left side of the road. (In your opinion, is it a coincidence that 99% of vehicles in operation in Canada and the United States are fitted with steering wheels located on the left ? )
2- Older vehicles (10 years or more) are less safe for their occupants in case of collision than newly built comparable vehicles often equipped with driver's and passenger's side airbags, side curtain air bags, Anti-lock Brake System, Electronic Stability Control, etc.

Thus, before the number of these vehicles rises too high, the Minister of Transport decided to temporarily interrupt their arrival on Quebec's road network to allow the SAAQ time to examine the situation and make recommendations.

Because the decision was made through a Ministerial Order (M.O.), it became effective the day it was published in the Gazette officielle. Until the M.O. is published, any notice or disclosure about its contents is prohibited. That is why we could not inform anyone of the impending publication of the M.O.
              Hope this answers your questions,

              Yours truly,

              Xxxx Xxxxx, ing (P.eng)

I basically got the same response.
except that he stated facts about how australia was 30 yo?

yet he didn't mention that they were allowed to comply LHD vehicules as well as vehicules younger then 15 years

I love how in every report and statment issued by government associated groups they always complain to some effect that These cars were meant to be driving on the left side of the road and are a cause for concern.... yet just about everywhere else in the world except North America, there's a high intermix of both RHD and LHD vehicles. England & Europe in general, Japan, New Zealand etc.
Are they all smarter, more evolved humans than us? how is it they maintain a safe quality of living on the roads with both versions, yet we as a country cannot? what are they saying about us?

Not a horrible article....but there's that mutha fawkin ICBC study quoted AGAIN......SHEESH.

At least our side's comments were posted more in this one than any I've seen so far.
No indications of Ontario following suit, so far...

I like the comment of ANOTHER driver doing a double-take and hitting the sidewalk. Just more proof it's the driver, not the car that isn't paying attention. LOL.

And DAAAAYYMMMM, I wasn't aware that the country of quebec is being so hard on motorcyclists too! What a communistic government.
I think they're taking things so far now, that the rest of the country will now see how rediculous it is and NOT follow along.

                      • ^^ Lately I totally agree... the Liberal Party in Québec as mainly done everything to piss everyone of.

Due to lack of other interesting parties they have been reelected.

the parti quebecois had nothing to offer. and the ADQ with the Archaic ideas went downhill at the beginning of the latest election campaign.

so We were stuck with that Effin Liberal Party

see were that leads us: straight to a damn imperialistic state

                          • Has anyone actually stopped and spoken to a cop about this? Or a SAAQ approved inspection place? I know the importation/inspection/licencing is off right now, but I mean I don't even want to drive my GTR around for fear of getting stopped. If a cop "thinks" my muffler is too loud, can I lose my car?

If your muffler is too loud, you'll get a ticket, not an inspection. They dont even check the noise levels of mufflers in inspections actually, goes to show just how good our government is.

"Inspector certifies your car is compliant."
"You pull out of the parking."
"Cop stops you and gives you a non compliant muffler ticket."

I sent a email to the SAAQ. and the reply from the engineer was: I'm almost certain your car doesn't have ABS and stability control and in 2012 it will be manditory for cars coming in the province to have these systems... Also 15yo JDMs don't comply to 2009 standards of collision test... NO way? really? they're freaking 15 years olds...

WHATTTTTTTTTT?? what a load of BS....

I did mention that year for year our cars were alot safer then 10 yo cars.

he said: well the amount of cars that are over 10 is being auto eliminated because people get ride of them...

so all these new cars bring the average of old cars closer to 15...

                                non sense really
