The actual blue of the race car will be closer to the Calsonic car when it's done.

Just found in the rule book, open exhausts are OK too, as long as they exit behind the drivers any fans of Group A will know exactly what I'm thinking now

Anyone care to volunteer some help tomorrow night (Thursday March 13 around 4:30 pm) I'm going to drop the front subframe out of the car and bolt the R33 motor up and get it ready to go back in.

Just FYI, anybody that pulls the motor out the top in these cars is mad, it's much, much, much easier to drop the front subframe out of the car and then just roll it out. You don't even need to pull the axles out to get the motor off the front subframe, you just disconnect them at the engine end and leave them attached at the wheel end. I'll bet I can pull the whole engine out the bottom in a lot less time than it takes to get just the tranny out the hard way.

My vote is for the Taisan scheme with the red and black. Very aggressive and will get a lot of looks. All blue calsonic is only good for historical reference which (lets face it) no one outside of GTRdom knows about.

Well, the motor came a long way today, it's just about ready to go back in the front subframe and then back in the car......

There are a number of odd little differences between the R33 and R32 motor, the most annoying so far is that the R32 has 5/8" heater hoses and the R33 has 3/4" and the fittings on the engine are attached to a myriad of plumbing, so I'm just going to cut the hoses and insert some barbed adapters in them.

I've switched to the R33 power steering pump which is much smaller and ditched the AC as well, which leaves a lot more room (I can't believe how big the R32 AC compressor is, I have the R33 one, and it's half the size.......

The R33 and R32 subframes look remarkably similar, I'm going to have to lay them out next to each other and see if there is any difference.

PS Did anybody hear me on The Driving Show on the Corus radio network this morning? I was the guest, and will be doing a segment on Driving Television soon too.

Well, I made good progress today, the new motor is back in the front subframe with the R33 power steering all plumbed and hooked up, eliminating the HICAS, the alternator is back on as well as all the plumbing to the turbos and wiring etc.

The Brembos are now on the front as well, along with the larger R33 front swaybar.

Tomorrow, the twin plate throwout bearing should be in (I managed to cross it over and NAPA got one coming out of Edmonton for me), so I can bolt the transmission back up and get ready to put it back in the car.

Before it goes back in the car, I'll be removing all the AC condensor and stuff from the chassis as well as the lod power steering cooler lines (the R33 cooler is on the front of the subframe instead of in front of the radiator). I'll also be washing the inside of the intercooler out as well.

Incidentally, the R33 GT-R subframe is identical to the R32, they can be interchanged if you swap the spindle assemblies from the R32 onto it or vice versa. I'm going to steal the nice rubber air deflectors on the R33's A arms too, as they scoop air up and throw it right at the brakes.

I also picked up a HICAS lock bar today as well, so, all going well, the car should be running again in the next couple of days!

Going to have to agree with JZ on this......the Taisan colour scheme in it's original fashion looks great and would be my vote for the car. Not that it's out to vote that is

HKS is striking too, but a bit busy.

The Reebok scheme really looks awesome too, but probably too many British flags for you guys, not that it matters to a Brit like me

Well, the motor is back in the car today, I just need to connect everything back up tomorrow and then take it for a spin (I hope)......

The biggest thing I have to sort out is scaring up some bolts for the driveshaft (the originals were stolen, and the clip didn't have any with it.....) and for some reason, NAPA just can't get me the right size exhaust gaskets for the downpipe...... I give them the ID's, and then they deliver stuff, and it's not right - twice now, I don't get what's so hard......... I guess I'll just have to go down there and put the downpipe on their counter......

Well, the cars back on the road as of last weekend, and after tons of screwing around and removing the plenum from the car twice, I now know all about the many places RB26's can have vacuum leaks!

Finally, as of today, the car idles velvet smooth and quiet at 1000 rpm and driveability is perfect.

The OS Giken twin plate I installed is a very nice clutch! It's a little noisy sometimes when you sit there holding the clutch in (only if it hits the right frequency and starts resonating), but it bites very hard, and the engagement point, while brief is fine for driving the car without stalling it.

Next up is the Stinky tuned GT-R ECU, and some paint!
