Why i am here: Well i have loved the skylines for as long as i can remember so i decided to buy a 91 GTR about three months ago. I am pretty new to the GTR family, but i want to learn as much as i can about them. This car is my baby and i dont want to be someone who just drives the hell out of a skyline and not maintain it or respect it. So really im here to just learn the ways or the amazing SKYLINE so that i cant take care of this car and keep it in great shape.

What i do: Jack of all trades Engineer - designing pneumatic & fluidic control systems at the moment but have done some software, instrumentation, automation etc.

Other Toys: battered 89 FJ1200, underused Paraglider.

Why i am here: Finding out where to tinker and where to leave it to the experts.

                      History/ waffle:
                      Bought a Gunmetal Grey 91 GTS4 with some redundancy money 4 yrs ago for £1700 (2750 $Can).
SS big bore Exhaust, Greddy boost controller (not piped for some reason), Huge fin on back which makes it unstable at 120+ (needs splitter or something to keep the nose down), extra boost gauge, steering wheel & gear knob in red leather but otherwise standard & good bodywork.
She started making a light top end rattle 6 weeks later on a gentle run.
Suspected oil starvation, trailered it home and started stripping engine but renovating a house and travelling deadlines stopped me getting to root of the problem.
Left it with a mate who fixes cars part time, whilst I went travelling. He put it back together to hear the rattle, drove it and stripped the timing belt.
No work so no money for skyline so it sat & gathered spiders.
Eventually got another good job & paid my debts off so started stripping it again.
                      So far I've found
                      the stripped timing belt,
                      3 bent valves,
a blocked oilway to the front inlet cam bearing,
the bearing journal is scored but 75% OK,
cam pulley had a snapped bolt in one extractor hole & 2 chunks missing from it (presumably a puller or hammer was used by the previous idiot who failed to remove it).
The head gasket was misshapen round the rearmost cylinder, extruding 2-3mm into the bore.

                      Plans
This is my first top end rebuild (have worked on bikes & 2 strokes before) so I'm taking my time.
Planning on doing as much work myself as possible so all advice and ideas welcome.
Planning on first getting her running.
Later: fitting a better turbo & injectors, de catting, removing the huge fin, fitting an exhaust control valve to keep the neighbours happy & surprise the Corsa drivers with big fins.
Hoping to learn enough about maps etc to avoid blowing it up.
in a couple of years - maybe upgrade to an RB26DETT to give the GTR guys a run for their money.

Look forward to talking to you.

Why am I here: Looking to hopefully pick up an r32 in the near future, figured it would be best to gather information here.

History: I run a euro based website www.wfsu.net and used to be heavily involved with the Volkswagen scene, including having my car featured and on the centerfold in Performance VW magazine. Hopefully I'll have the same impact if I'm able to acquire one of these cars

Why am I here: I am planning on getting a R34 GTR, or an R33 depending on how much the R34 will cost once it is available, I am here to gain as much knowledge i can about the GTR, I know some important stuff but I have lots to learn, I will like to build the GTR to have about 600 whp, since that is still streetable.

History: I have been into Nissans for a very long time, and have owned 2 240sx's and i currently own a 180sx with the SR20 which has been modified, which was my introduction to forced induction. I am also a student at Loyalist college and I am studying the Automotive Feild
