I don't. But I would highly suggest setting aside about 100 hours or so and read on www.rx7club.com before buying one ...

You've gotta be crazy like me to buy an FD. If you get one with good compression and keep it relatively stock it's great (radiator, AST, boost controller, downpipe, SMIC). When you start modifying it to get 400whp, problems start arising.

I've found some nice ones locally, I'm not looking for speed or big power, just a super good handling machine.. My gtr is awesome but I've had 3 years in skylines. I supper I could buy an rx7 ontop, but two money pits?!?

If that's the case.... when buying...

-compression test and coolant pressure test. you have RX7 Specialties in Calgary. Bring the car there for a pre-purchase inspec. They are magicians with rotaries. Ultimatley they will tell you if the car is worth buying or not.


THEN... before you drive it do, or make sure it already has.

1) aftermarket rad. fluidyne has been shown to fit the best
2) larger stock mount intercooler. GReddy has a very nice one
3) alumium air separation tanks (AST) to replace the stock plastic one. they are prone to breaking, overheat your engine and by bye goes your coolant seals.
4) get rid of the stock pre-cat and replace with 3'' downpipe
5) boost gauge and boost controller. NEVER EVER go above 10PSI on the stock ECU.
6) keep your cat converter. it will create back pressure and keep you from boost spiking, which in turn will hit fuel cut at 12PSI and blow your engine
7) replace all hoses in the `rats nest`(search it)

+ a few other odds and ends. There are very good threads on RX7 club that go over what every owner should to as `reliability` mods.

I'm running pre-mix now too... so I can run full synth without being worried about carbon buildup.
