Fire and theft are used when storing your car. My car is currently stored and it has fire and theft on it.
What is your policy like when your driving it? And if your driving around with just fire and theft then.....well.....its not good!

fire and theft are used for when its out of storage as well. my buddy's exhaust melted the bumper on his golf and ended up losing the car in a blaze. insurance didnt pay out because he didnt have fire coverage. Im pretty sure liability is all that is legally needed in ontario. if you hit someone and put them in the hospital, its your $1M policy that pays their bills.

Would a 50$ bill and me signing a non disclosure agreement change your mind?

I know I will sound like the bad guy here but we are no longer disclosing insurance info to non clients. We have spent the last few months working very hard with insurance companies and continue to do so. It has become a trade secret and a competitive advantage of sorts.

My personal Supra is insured through facility. Thats about the only advice I can give.

My car also has damage and everything. I pay the same all year around my car doens't "go into storage" I dont bother pay a smaller premium for winter months because I only pay $95/month anyways so. I just pay it all year around. Anyways if im parked and someone smashes my car thats all covered, also if someone steals it from a parking lot. If anything happens to it in public im safe. If I hit someone I'm still covered also even if its my fault. Theyre pretty good to work with , they're not only liability.thats 100% sure

That's sad it's come to that. Matt, I would have hoped to better the RHD community you would make a better stand point with things.

To everyone else, I will post back here with my findings. I have quite a few clients out in Ontario and see what they say with their policies. I'm confident things will turn around out there.

Ive been asked to keep things between our staff for now as we are working out things with various insurers. I have to respect the bosses wishes.

If we do our job well then in March big things could happen with RHD insurance across the board, but for now, everything is hush hush and for just cause.

Many people on this board and other boards will tell you Ive contributed on a personal level in pm's to many insurance questions over the years, there is no denying this.

What many poeople dont realize is that we dont have the magic solution. We are not hoarding one special insurer for ourselves that no one knows about. Every customer we have who cant get insurance, we personally fight for. Our sales staff call their insurance company and others and we dont stop until we get them a reasonable rate. Its not that we tell them go to XYZ company and everything is fine. We actually do all the heavy lifting for them.

We have been successful at netting policies with companies that have outright refused to insure rhd vehicles. Its all about knowing how to approach the situation. What we have become good at is learning how to deal with each situation on a case by case basis. If we had the stand alone answer, I wouldnt be paying facility insurance rates.

As for whats going on in March, ive been asked to keep it hush. What I can say is that we will have a big voice in front of ALL the insurance companies in Canada as to why RHD's are not dangerous and why insurers should take on rhd business. This is not just for us. This is for everyone coast to coast.

Please do not be so quick to reserve judgement. We understand fully that if insurance is manageable that the entire industry, especially in Ontario, will grow and that our company will grow with it.

                              • I pretty much read everything single post in this thread. I am working on a skyline as hard as anyone else, but there are just several people who have affordable insurance and wont disclose too much information.....I guess insurance for RHD is now offically a dark art ....cant blame anyone its just that EVERYTHING in CANADA is too damn high compare to their US counterparts.

Like one of the poster said, Insurance = legalized rape. Hopefully things will change in future --> look forward to March
