Theres a law saying that visiters or foreign nationals that are attending school or working here are allowed to bring a car into canada from the country they are visiting from and the vehicle does not have to meet canadian or us standards. So people with visa's(not landed immigrants) could bring ANY car with them.
So dont say R34's are illegal cause that is so ignorant.

And if you read furthur, you would see that FIRST TIME ARRIVING LANDED IMMIGRANTS CAN bring in ANY car for one (1) year!

I hadnt heard of that. What happens after the first year? If it were in BC, would the car not become a registered and plated vehicle for use in the province, and therefore be permanently registered and insurable?

Send it back, or have it crushed.
I'll look for the source and link it here, when I get the time.

just because someone says something is illegal doesn't make it dishonest.

and if safety was paramount, the bring in any car regardless of standards and first time landed immigrant thing is nutso. I'm in china right now, and I see so much ass backwards driving it's crazy.

This guy has fought fire with fire, and personally I commend him. True, if we all bought one the north american "lobby against used imports" assoc. would grab TC by the balls and have the port of vancouver shut to imports forever. However, in this instance, it proves the solid point that this law is a joke, the car has no safety issues, and is nothing more than thinly veiled fascism at best..
I agree with you 100%. It obviously has nothing to do with safety, purely money. And if people want to live their lives based on what a guy in a suit in an office on the other side of the country says, more power to them. I would import one in a second if I had the $$$. Its funny how things are randomly made illegal and we just accept it. A sad state of affairs.

people can keep saying these are illegal which is honestly the narrow minded way of approaching this. anyone with common sense can see that you can import any car legally. there are just legal ways of doing it. however theres is only very few ways of registering it legally for the street and getting it insured. pointing to a r34 and saying its illegal is just ignorant. saying that it wasnt registered properly is completely different. just because you or someone you know tried to find a loophole and wasnt able to doesnt mean that if someone else finds one that they are wrong right away. thats why the few people that have r34's here in ontario never go on here do to the thought of getting bashed left and right as soon as they say anything about their car.
