they were a differant batch though and branded holden. they tend to break alot easier. they blow heads alot more (i think thats due to the placement of the radiator though) and bottom ends seem to blow easier

So that's the RIPS 3L forged shortblock for $19500 NZD? Yoiks, at $12700 CND that's still alot of dough. I wish my wife would let me spend that kind of cash LOL. It was a hard sell just to buy the GTR in the first place. Keep us informed mandingo.:bow down:

                Update Time!!! Pics!!

                UPDATE TIME!!!!!!

                Update #2

so i only have time for a quick update,

and again i apologize to all those who pm'd me, due to the sudden increase in end of year school work, exams and work i had to put a pause on the GTR and resulting i hadnt been on GTRC for a few months... i still am workin my ass off and today i got a break... my head is fully ported and polished, took 3 months... he came to show it to me today, and damn it was worth it. clearly as you can see from the pictures there are some pieces missing, he just came to show me the head fully hand ported and hand polished. all that has to be done now is put all the pieces in, seat the valves, etc. and we're ready to time the motor :-P

dunno if you can see it well, but trust me that is as smooth as it gets. more updates coming soon.

                              UPDATE #3

so 4 months since the last update, and all is good. since the last update, the engine builder has ported and polished the runners in all ITB's, seated and adjusted all the valves, and we had forgotten to order valve buckets, so we had to order those in and those took a while to get in. got everything in and put the motor together. heres how it looks at the moment. and the valve cover is actually a copper metallic color, and im not sure if another engine company has the same color (ie. tomei, top secret, that kind of stuff.) but i liked this color and i figured it would look good in a black engine bay in a black car.

here are the pictures of the motor with some parts of the custom turbo kit bolted to it, checking for fitment and clearance issues.
                              so without further ado,

This pick u can see the height difference between the RB26 and the RB30, the RB30 is roughly 1 inch taller creating that gap between the covers.

the compressor side of each turbo will be going for the same powder coat treatment as the intake manifold.

give me another 1-2 weeks and the baby will be on the road for break in, then back in for its first oil change and full tune.
