Small updates, picked up an Ab Flug diffuser

Also got a start on cleaning the engine bay, sanding it down for paint. Getting the guy who painted it to come down and turn my garage into a mini paint booth and get the engine bay painted and get it back together and ready for the engine. Next on the list is stripping the subframes, for paint and new bushings as well as new suspension bits.

Trying to clean off 20 years of this sh*t is a grueling job.

Some small updates. Finally finished cleaning the 20 years of crap off the intake manifold.

Also cleaned and painted the intake plenum. Used wrinkle effect paint and baked it, turns out awesome and is tough as nails. I scrapped the surface with a key, didn't even make a mark.

    Close up

Oh wow, your third/gear set must've been messed up. Its not hard swapping them out and parts are readily available on this site. Did you get the manual I sent you? I think transmission starts around page 300-305

It cost about $300 for the kit. It does not include any gears though, Just bearings, seals and synchros. Did you damage your speed gears?

Here are a few pictures of the transfer case. I forgot to take pictures throughout, but here are a couple of the inside. A very simple yet sophisticated design.

P.S. So the clutches in transfer case are completely filled with fluid? and Still waiting for that FSM from you, ive send you my email already!
    THanks
Sorry, I sent them out to three people already and had not seen your pm on the page until now. Sending it right now. I will try to get a mod to sticky that thread for everyone as its is a nice thing to know our transmissions can be rebuilt.

As for the transfer case clutches, yeah they are oil soaked, they actually have there own oiling pump mounted at the front of the case. Its basically the same set up as wet clutches in an automatic tranny. I want to try and see what I can round up for replacement clutchpacks for the transfer case, Although mine seemed in very good condition.

Got them through King-o-matic directly. You can go to any transmission shop though. Berts automotive and mister transmission are good.

Update: just rebuilt the transfer case so I got a few pics of that. Its a pretty neat design. It uses electrical input to trigger a hydraulic motor to pressurize a piston to mechanically engage a clutch pack and it is all varied on the electrical input giving a certain pressure to allow enough grip or slip to give you your varied torque transfer. So basically electrical over hydraulic over mechanical.

the engine bay is in the process of being cleaned up, I've put the project on a slow down while i get the funding for the winter. In the mean time i've rebuilt the transmission, there was a intermittent grinding on fourth gear, oil cutters were a bit dull and clearances were out of tolerance so new bearings, synchros and seals went in. Anyways, thats ready to get back together.

Heres it when it came out.

And heres it all cleaned up and rebuilt
