Went out for a short run tonight to simcoe (through the back roads) to make sure nothing is bad , borrowed an igniter from dickered32 who very kindly lent it to me for this coming weekend.
The greddy profec was still set for the factory turbos and it needs alot of fiddling because boost builds too slowly . I fumbled my way through the menu and lowered the boost response control and holy crap its wicked
Set the boost limit to .75 bar and opened it up a few times .
The tomei twins build boost fast and make power in a very linear fashion , shifting gives no sign of flutter or shuffle when coming off the gas a bit and the power is there - immediatly when you stomp the go pedal again. The Greddy suction kit is alot quieter than the hks mushroom setup i had before. You can still hear the induction noise but it's almost to quiet to hear.
I got back opened the hood to check for leaks and check levels etc and the biggest thing i noticed was the lack of heat under the hood. I cant believe how much difference ceramic coating the headers , dumps , downpipe makes. I could put my hand on the hard piping and it was just warm. This is great
The only leak was the rips catch can , the washer fluid pissed out of it when i added it because the grommet holes for the pumps were too big. Not going to complain because thats the easiest thing to fix
Sat in the workshop hot you can hear the coolant surging through the water lines from the turbo with the engine off , i guess the tomei line design is doing its job quite nicelyand the coolant is cycling through the turbos thermally .
I'm going to try and install the Apexi avc-r before the weekend , depends how this week goes .. I DID manage to mount the front JUN lip from Cunits Group buy and it looks good with the seibon JU style hood , That reminds me , i have to remind him about something - wonder if he will be coming on saturday.

Looks really good paul. I love the look ofr hte greddy piping kit, although it seems to be a bit of a pain to install with Tomei's. Can't wait to get my car up and running and come see you. What are you doing about tuning it now though for the larger turbo's.

Stardate July 9th 2011 .....
Back from vacation and back in the workshop to try and get this beast drivable for next weekend.
Went and saw Dave at Chatterson engineering in brantford and picked up my 5/8 billet flange that he kindly machined for me ..
This space sits between the Greddy suction pipe and the turbo intake mount to space the Greddy piece around the Tomei wastegate actuator... It was JUST the right thickness leaving no room either side for error. I measured the gap between the actuator and pipe and it was 1 thou lol HOWEVER the main problem was that the old bolts were no longer long enough to mount the assembly.
A quick trip to Fastenal was required to buy some longer cap heads but when I tried to use them they were fouling the Greddy cassting because of the tight bends ... i swear to god nothing goes to plan
Time to modify the greddy piece with the trusty dremel , i ovalled out the hole so the cap head go through at an angle .
Once done the screw went in ok and everything was ready to fiddle and fight with for 45 minu.... i mean it was ready to install
So after installing the pipe , this is a pic to show how close everything was , the one cap head screw took me about 10 minutes to tighten with a allen key because i couldnt get access with the allen head sockets i have .. 1 thou clearance and about the same with the power steering hose ..
Finally i shoehorned all the intake parts back in and it lookd like this ...
Time is of the essence now beause i cant spend all next week working on the car so i had to throw the mishimoto rad in with the original shroud and the original fan for the time being , i wont have time to jerk around making the electrical fan before next weekend ..
I also installed the oil drain tubes from the trubo to the block , modified and made the dump pipe brackets to block fit, installed the Megan racing rad hoses , installed the cam wheel covers, CAS, water line and CAS loom.
Decided to leave the greddy Profec B II boost controller hooked up for now because the AVC-r will take too much time efore next weeked so ill do that and all my electronics later .
Grabbed by downpipe to reconnect to the hanging exhaust system, installed the innovate wideband sensor ..
went to install it and FARK!!!!! .......
..... i welded the the bung in the wrong side and it fouls the floor so ill fix that tonight . I thought at first i had the dump pipes on the wrong way around but realised that i coulnt line it up because the O2 bung was in the way.. Stupid mistake ,, this is what happens when you rush.
So after kicking the dog I just decided to concentrate and getting eveything else in and connected ready to fill the fluids and cry over all the leaks im bound to find ..
Anyway , the engine bay looks almost normal again now ...
More updates after tonights work..Last edited by cortexx; 07-09-2011, 11:04 AM.

@matty
unless my place crashes next week i should be at the skymeet on 16th july, you can see it then although much that has to be installed wont be on it yet , just going to get it drivable .
@mikey - yes its the seibon JU style hood , fits as well as the factory hood , awesome quality , very solid and the design matches the r33 style very well.. It's possible i might have it repainted MNP in the future if the carbon look doesnt please me though. I'll post some more pics tonight

Hey Dude that is the JU style hood right? how do you like it? and could you possibly put up a couple more pics from the front, etc. please? Thinking about if I would like this hood for my r32 should be close enough comparison to help a guy decidethx!
