I went to Napa, part # 4644, I can't remember what the exact number was on the plug, but it was different then the bkr7e I usually run, my tuner gave me the part #. Gapped to .8, I've tried a bunch of different gaps, even with the coils .8 was still best, even a bit smaller maybe
Thanks, I'm running those NGK plugs too. My plugs are gapped at .032. We started to tune at .045 but were starting to brake up at 16psi so closed it up and were good to 19psi, where we stopped.
Well Ive decided on the route for my build after some reading. Im pulling my engine tomorrow and gonna use the block I have, meaning Ill ahve a spare head for sale soon, since my current one is done and ready to be built. So here is a list of what Im ordering over the next month or so.
Manley 26175 titanium springs/retainers
OEM Complete gasket set
Weisco/Manley Piston/Rod Combo
Spool RB spline drive Oil pump gears + collar
ACL Race bearings all around
ARP main studs
N1 oil pump
mines valve cover baffles
Tomei oil pan baffle
This all combined with my current ARP head studs, N1 water pump, Tomei re stricter and Tomei Poncam type B should make for a decent set up I think. Im still debating on the compression ratio of the pistons (8.5:1 or 9:1), but ill likely go with the 8.5:1 since the head and block will be pained and im using an OEM headgasket.
Ill be ordering the top end stuff at the end of this week, so the head will be done and sitting pretty. Then Ill start ordering bottom end over the next month or so, as funds become available, LOL. Anyone know how to hide this website from my fiance lol?
sweet build,i just wish your pics weren't so damn small. so what benefit do you get from die grinding the head outlets?? and can you tell me exactly where you are buying your bits from?
So on the plus side so far, without even opening engine yet, it has an exedy hyper single 6 puck sprung clutch already
Also I think I found why my hp numbers were so low..
The turbo loosened off all the way around, one bolt even backed completely off. All four are loose and move...
On a side note, damn this motor isnt easy coming out the first time lol, lost of learning what else needs to come off lol. Also I shipped two items this week to buyers (6x coil packs and my old valve cover set) and both were received damaged.... Fighting with ebay sux in case anyone is wondering.
I should have the engine on the stand and coming apart tomorrow, based on my enthusiasm level lol, and if the "keep of my balls" has any plans already for us lol.

I dont know why the pics are the size they are, you should be able to click on them, they are hoested by imagehost so I have no idea, not very tech. inclined over here lol.
by "grinding the head outlets" do you mean the oil returns and galleries that I ported or the exhaust ports?
most of what I buy is ebay honestly, its usually hard to beat it, cuz I ship to the USA and drive an hr to get the stuff, save lots on shipping. Some things have been from JJ Autowerks, and others randomly based on googling part numbers and hunting for good prices. Even go as far as contacting business sometimes, often they are negotiable on prices or shipping, full race is a fantastic company to speak with.
Not much done tonight, got the garage cleaned and the car together to be stored out doors. Blocked everything off so snow doesnt invade, and pushed it outside. Start the tear down tomrrow.
the exhaust ports. it seems you really really lucked out on this engine
Porting the exhaust to the size of the gaskets basically removes restriction. Going bigger than ur gasket is useless unless ur gonna cut it out, or port your manifold runners too. I just opened them up some. I believe u loose some bottom end maybe, not sure.... guess ill find out lol.
Well I tore the engine down tonight Im gonna post a few pics. Thats one hell of an oil pan on these things...
Also, can anyone check out the pics of the oil pump (and the two logos on it) and the crank snout and identify them for me. Just wanna know what I have before buying more. Also if anyone sees anything else that abnormal or aftermarket let me kno, cuz I think its all stock...
Also, I guess this doesnt have ARP head studs liek it was supposed to
