hey that thing is cool but why such a small turbo
give me a call at the shop my motor is in and ill be picking it up soon if you want to tag along for the ride
about 5 years ago i moved to SK, and i brought the skyline with me at first. Tried to have it registered out there but ran into issues with SGI so i told them to go stick it up their ***... drove the ccar back and on my way to bringing it to store it until i could recover the car again. On my way up to Kamloops i was passing a semi and my hood flew up on my. My hood was trashed and so is my roof now... well i parked it and stored it for the following 4.5 years.
Got a new hood, and just needed to get the roof fixed. there is extensive damage to it. which is going to cost me around $2000 to fix it... that will have to wait till next year or over the winter.
now for the somewhat good stuff... got the car back out of storage in sept... starting working on it to get it back to somewhat road worthy condition.
replaced the hood, touched up the rust that had formed on the roof. sanded it down and just threw some rust proof paint on it till i can get it to the shop.
got the new hood on which was an adventure as i had some issues with the hinges which i then needed to heat up and bend back into shape some what (these where "new" hinges)
my car originally has no aero at all on it short of a gtr bumper. so i got some type m side skirts and valances. painted those up and installed.
i then went to work on getting it ready for aircare. so changed over the plugged, new air filter, oil, overall all new fluids. then put my cat back in and took a nice rip to aircare. pass without any issues, which was a relief as for some reason, even tho i have never had an issue with aircare, im always nervous with going there... but it passed with flying colors and rated well below the average YAY!!
got her home and started working on some minor mods in preperation for this bad point:
so i have a bunch of parts waiting to go on. top mount manifold with has been ceramic coated. i have a 50mm wastegate that will be going on it as well...
in the meantime while i am waiting for more parts i just did some look upgrades etc... decided to wrap my interior trim with some carbon fiber vinyl. most of the pieces turned out great, some where tricky and didnt turn out the best but is good none the less...
i also had to redo my de-wing on my trunk as the bondo had cracked and needed to be redone, so took a whole day, sanded down the whole trunk, redid the bondo, and then spend a couple hours sanding some more and then paint. for now its just gone a primer on it, as i plan on getting it painted properly when i get the roof fixed, unless i get a carbon fiber trunk.
i then got a great deal on a chibi wing so i got that up, and installed... it was in rough shape so all the bolts where gone or rusted... so i talked with a body expert and just double sided tape it on and its been so far! and you can see from the pic that the wing is still primered...
also installed a new blow off valve (i like them and believe they are useful, i do not get why people are removing them and refusing to use them but to each there own). so installed a new HKS SSQV3 BOV in front of the driver side wheel. had to get a new pipe installed to mount it properly. i would like to add it took me more time to mount the damn BOV in the pipe then to install the new piping in the car... frick...
now the final bit of work i have done... since i am installing a top mount turbo, i needed to re-route the intake pipe a bit. doing a bit looking around, i decided the best bet would be to move the piping to on top of the plug coils... well that proved to be, less say fun... i was having some major clearance issues... so instead of doing hard piping over the timing belt cover, i put a 90* silicon coupler which can then compress under the hood when it closes. engine bay looks a bit cleaner as well now. i ordered and installed a new vacuum hose kit, trying to get rid of the old hoses and make sure there are no leaks in the system at all...
now i am waiting to install the top mount turbo in. i need a new flange for the wastegate as the one i have cracked on the edges. it turns out the flange was cast, so easily breakable. so i have a flange being made out of mild steel to make sure i dont have that issue again... i have everything i need to install this bad point in. picking up a welder here soon so i can fab up my exhaust and dump pipe.
also going to be picking up some new seats soon and going to be fabbing up some new seat rails as well.
also at the time im still trying to figure out what the hell is going on with my ECU throwing a knock sensor code all the time... but im slowing creeeping up on the gremlin and about to kill it...lol
well thats it for now... hopefully i can get that new turbo in in the coming weeks before winter starts to hit hard and it gets to cold, as i do all my work outside so.
hope everyone enjoyed this and stay tuned for more!
Had nistune installed the other day with a basic rb20 map for now, as why tune twice if I'm putting the new turbo on soon
Installed a z32maf as well today. Got new gtr injectors are the way which should be here Monday.
Tomorrow I have ls2 coils being installed so that should give me a way better spark then before.
Got my manifold back from the machinist as well as the flange that holds the waste gate broke on me so I have to have one custom fabbed up to fit properly. So got that back today. 50mm waste gate will scream when its dumped to the atmosphere. Whooooooohooooooo
Hoping all the new turbo stuff will be install by Nov 17th and off to the dyno for a full tune.
