NO! Then you'll be forced to keep your stock rims the original colour, and keep your N1 front end. They'll be only one GTS front end Type m in these parts!

Well for the last few weeks or so i've noticed a bit of a hesitation. Nothing to make me pull the car off the road and thoroughly inspect, but enough to start to toy with ideas..
I went over;
1. Plugs - BCPR6EIX-11 (gapped to .75mm).. approx 22,000 km on these.. Apparently time AND Km's fly by.
2. Dirty maf - I use a spray on K&N filter stuff after every wash. Keeps small particles from entering.. Save yourself the energy of telling me "I shouldn't be using this stuff" because i'm well aware.. But i do do it for safety reasons and because it's protocol with these particular filters. Maf hadn't been cleaned since the build, so approx 11,000 km.
Wow i do a lot of kms... Bought the car with 101xxx and now have 129xxx hmm
Anyways! I decided today, since its crappy out and i was already at work, to check it all out. Began by first and foremost, buying new plugs;
New plugs; BKR7E (pregapped to .8)
Oldies; BCPR6EIX-11s.. After 22,000 km.. Not too bad..
In the midst of all this, i decided to do something else.. Something, i'll admit, that is one of the most stressful and anxiety causing tasks on my car..
The dreaded compression test..
Now some of you might say; 'well you did it before the summer, it must be fine etc'.. no.. Everytime i drive my car hard, the first thought in my mind is 'oh sh*t, ya, i'm gonna pay for this in rings and piston and sleaves and the works'.. So i did it for peace of mind and MAN AM I EVER FU*KING HAPPY lol
.. yes.. 150-155 across all 6 cylinders after a 10 minute warmup. Can i also mention that, that's on a near 130,000 km motor? I digress.. Love you rb20..
So after dropping the new plugs in, i went about my normal coil maintenance. 1 Thing i like to do is retape below the mounting bracket to avoid any electrical bridging if they get too hot and melt.. This is very typical with older coilpacks, so taking the precautionary meassures in advance can't be a bad idea..
After which i proceed to baby powder the plastic boots :P The mineral Talc, in baby powder is resistant to electical current. By filling the boot and blowing out the excess, it clings to the sticky rubber walls creating a sort of 1 track highway for the electrical current of your coil to flow through. This will prevent and unwanted electrical discharge or sporadic flow of electricity. Basically this just drives the electrical current to your spark plug, and maintains as such, that it will go no where else.
Why not, right?
Then came the MAF.. Apparently quite dirty;
So all in all the car is in tip top shape.. Engine oil / transmission oil / diff oil / brake fluid / plugs - all changed.. Spark plugs new once again, maf and filter have been cleaned..
Into this winters build, i'm looking at some basic essentials..
- Tomei stainless headgasket to go along with my ported head.
- Tomei Valve springs
- ARP headstuds
- Greddy timing belt
- Adjustable cam gears
- Front and Rear slotted rotors, coupled to new (rear only) HPS pads
- Fix 2nd 3rd synchro and change input shaft bearing (basically overhaul the entire trans)
- Rebuild rb25 hi-flowed turbo based more or less on the 2876r, slightly larger
- Fit oil cooler and relocation
Go for retune.. See 360 whp at ~21 psi.. Laugh, cry and then **** myself on the ride home.. Probably cry a little more at this point.. But all in all, will be one hell of a good time next season.. And 150-155 compression across the board, to boot. ahhhhhhh yes...

GTST's main advantage is that it doesnt have to carry around all the extra drivetrain and goodies the 26 boasts, that being said, my only options in transmissions would be an RB25 or z32, both of which weight nearly double that of the RB20. So far, with the basic essentials in my car, i've gotten it down to 1120 kg at the nearby weight station.. 1120kg is freakin nuts. I'm pretty sure the car came stock @ 1300 give or take a few. GTR is around 1450kg.. at the moment, compared to a STOCK gtr @ 280 whp, i'm looking at 4 kg per hp (1120/280), versus a gtr at 5.17 kg per hp (1450/280). So basically you would need a GTR with 362 hp to match my car head to head.
So, if i can make a 360 whp GTST in the same weight range (account for cooler, larger turbo, maybe i'll buy new cd's this winter? i donno..), i'm looking at 1130kg, unless i decided to ditch my AC system, at which point we're laughing with another 40-50 kg loss! (must not give in..)
1130/360 = 3.13 kg per hp.... It would take a 1450kg GTR, 461 hp to match.
So case in point, i want to build the lightest possible car that boasts the maximum hp that can safely be attained before having any serious issues, and i think the 20 is more than capable of that. Since my motor is running a steady 150+ on all cylinders, to bring a 26 into the equation will end up costing me much more in the end, much much much much more, and only get me as far as my 20 would have in the first place!
Plus, how cool is it running around with an RB 20 near 400 wheel? That's pretty epic if you ask me.. It comes stock with what, like 195 wheel?
