  • Looks really good! love the looks of everything. Only thing you need is a front facing plenum!

    • Thx Bellis, ya Ive been looking at plenums. I want to keep the runners as long as possible because I dont want to lose any torque. I think a PlazmaMan style plenum is probably best option since it only replaces the top half, but the throttle bodies are overpriced.

      • You should check out nelsonmxmarc‎'s project thread. He kept the whole thing pretty much except cut a hole in the front of it and welded the existing spot closed.

        • I have all the turbo lines figured out now. Im waiting for two 90 degree fittings for the oil and water return's at the turbo.

I have a problem with my steel exhaust manifold gasket. It seems that the rivets holding the three thin gauge pieces that constitute the gasket will interfere with fit up. Im guessing that removing the rivets wont affect anything? The install instructions for the gasket clearly shows that the rivets shouldnt be anywhere near a mating surface on the manifold or head....yet all three rivets are in the way. The gasket only fits on one way, so its not a positioning issue.

          Regards,
          Ken.

          • Ok now Im looking to order my wastegates as I want to start laying out my dump pipe. Im a little confused as to what sized gates I need.

            38MM or 1-3/8"
            56MM or 2-3/16"
            44MM or 1-3/4"

You may think that because the green lines are 44mm that I may need a 44mm wastegate, but I found this webpage that shows 38mm gates have a 1-3/4" OD inlet. So ya Im confused as to what I should get.
            Regards,

            • So Ive ordered two TiAL MV-S (38mm) wastegates, (2x) 3" 304 stainless round tube 2' Long, 60 degree 304 stainless mandrel bent elbow, and a 3" stainless flexible exhaust coupling. Ive figured out the angle I need should be around 60 degrees from the back of the turbo. Ill have to make my own angle pieces on the bottom bend of the dump pipe, but not a big deal.

I decided to pull off my powersteering pump to give it a blast of rattle can black. The paint was flaking off, so theres no point leaving it in there looking shitty when everything else will be fresh. I sent the 3 brackets for the PS pump and 1 bracket from the alt in for powder coating. Im hoping I get the brackets back Friday afternoon so I can put the pump back in this weekend.

Ill have to start planing the plumbing from the WG's back into the exhaust once I get everything situated.

              • Its been about 18 months since I've been active on the forum, and a lot of things in my life have changed since. I purchased a house in May 2013 and my girlfriend delivered my 8lb-6oz baby boy on December 14th 2013.

So its been a long bloody time since I've done much of anything to my car. This week I corrected that horrible injustice.

One of the first things I did when I got the keys to my house was to call a electrician to wire 220 service to my garage. I bought a Lincoln SquareWave 175 late last year. I finally fabricated and welded out my turbo's dump pipe, I still need to weld the o2 sensor bungs. I placed the wideband's hole about 36" downstream, I wonder if I can put the OEM sensor about 12"-18" downstream without cooking it. Yesterday I fabbed up and tacked my wastegate piping (decided to go with screamers). Tomorrow Ill finish the welding, and figure out what Ill need to plumb my WG's to my boost controller. I'm also considering running coolant lines to my WG's, shouldn't be hard to "tee" and "y' off of the lines running to the turbo. I'll also probably ditch the two banjo fittings I have on the compressor water in & out, they seem too restrictive. If all goes well, I might be able to start my intercooler piping soon. I forgot to mention that I bought the Plazman plenum I'll post up some pictures in the next few days.
                Regards,
                Ken.

                • So I finished welding out the screamer piping. I've never TIG welded thin stainless before, it was actually challenging lol. If you attempt this, make sure you clamp together your v-bands or else they will warp out of shape. You will also need to purge the inside of the piping with inert gas (I used argon), or else the stainless will "sugar". It was a battle to get the v-band's around the Wastegates and screamers, there is just barely enough room for this setup to work. It seemed impossible to put them on in place, so I took the exhaust manifold and studs out, I also had to remove the power steering pump. Tightened everything on my workbench, then popped it back in place. Tomorrow I plan on sorting out what I need to connect vacuum and water lines to the WG's.

Put on a v-band to connect the dump pipe to the existing 3" exhaust

Installed springs in the Wastegates (I put in 1 bar worth of pressure, boost controller can double it )

                  • So I figured out that I dont have enough room to plumb in water to my WG's. I can reach 3 out of 4 fittings no problems, but one is too close to my strut tower (I could bash the crap out of it with a hammer....but I won't). The WG's water port's use a M8 x 1.0 thread....but good luck finding a banjo that has a -4AN tail in that size. Atleast I figured out what Ill be needing for my EBC, I ordered a bunch of hose and barbed fittings. This is how my EBC & WG vacuum lines will be hooked up.

are all the runners on that manifold the same length?
and that resistor looking thing is pretty close to the turbine housing it might get fried which would suck, i have no idea its job.. i think its to prevent surges in electrical?? mine had enough slack in the loom to mount it just in front of the shock strut nice and cool area.

Thanks Adam! I like the build on your car aswell, even though I haven't had the time to go back through every page again yet. I took the pictures with my GF's Canon T3i, its pretty badass. I believe all the runners are the same length or atleast very close to the same, I'll try to remember to measure them before I put on the metal exhaust gasket and torque'r on. Yea I have no idea what that thing is...I think it says "JECS" on it??? I can always solder some more wire on it and relocate if I don't have the slack. The wires for my EBC go by there too, I have some heat reflecting tape that I can apply on all my electrical in that area. Now I want to mock up where my FMIC is going to sit, I'm guessing people had to move their horns to mount them? I'm just not sure where I should move them to.

hey, why did you put two waste gates? just the size of turbo needs two?

Ya I'll have to figure where to tuck my wires away, your setup definitely sounds like an option. Ya I love the way the 6boost manifold positions the compressor. I have two WG's because I'm running a twin scroll turbo and divided manifold. The manifold is divided so it needs two WG's to accommodate the release of excessive exhaust pressure.

                              • I just realized after posting that the turbine housing on my GTX3071R isn't divided. Looks like Garrett has released divided housings now, I don't think that they were an option when I purchased mine. To see the full potential I need that housing, another $500+ Now I'm thinking of stepping up from a .63 to a .83
