hey there. seems you and me have very very similar threads!!! you should get a hx35 for morre flow/power though. but nice work so far. how much did you pay for your 25?? i payed 900 shipped.

hey yeah we do! yeah ive thought about an hx35 but i dont think it'll be worth all the effort for such minimal gains, from what ive read the 7 blade hx35 flows just over 60 pounds/min and the 8 blade flows around 52lbs/min and mine, the he341, flows around 58lbs/min. i payed a little more than that lol, thats a good deal for sure though

Also the diff removal is not that fun hey? Good to see a shim job as it seems to be a relitivly cheaper option then a 2way but still streetable car.
Good work.
ya honestly the whole proses of shimming the diff was wayy harder than changing my clutch haha! i just hope it locks better!Built R32 GTR, BW S362, 682awhp @ 28psi

went down to racing greed this morning and turns out it was the tune causing the idle issue so after figuring that out and getting the car running right i say hey why not throw it on the dyno and turn the boost up a wee bit. so 23 psi later this is what i got.
im pretty excited about it, the car feels amazing and just keeps pulling.
Also right around the 20psi mark it started miss firing in boost, and i thought i had completely wasted my time using the LS2 truck coil packs but then i quickly remembered about adjusting the dwell and brought it up to the guy tuning my car, a couple adjustments later and booom no missfire!!
oh and **** that shim locked my diff hard. aperantly they break in after a couple weeks though so i hope thats just the case.Built R32 GTR, BW S362, 682awhp @ 28psi

I like.
Sounds like wasn't charging coilpacks for long enough (build up enough charge).
That's what worries me sometimes (corrupting the file). I gather it's best to download tune from ECU to new file, then make adjustments. They say that's the best way due to new versions of tuning software being released that can cause problems with older bin files.RESPONSE MONSTER

i also have ls coilpacks. so with nistune you can adjust the dwell time on the coils?? you should email me your map so i can check it out. supersayianjim2@yahoo.com
also can you take some more pics and show how you did that pack mount?? iam going to do the same thing.

uhm i think nistune doesnt give you full controll over the dwell time but there is something there to adjust it, not sure how it works, theres a good thread out there somewhere just search "ls2 coils nistune". ill snap some pics tomorrow, its just 2 brackets that i made that bolt to the fuel rail and then to the aluminum plate that holds the coils.
and sorry i dont have the map, the tuners would thoughBuilt R32 GTR, BW S362, 682awhp @ 28psi

i also have ls coilpacks. so with nistune you can adjust the dwell time on the coils??
Basically if you know it takes shorter time to charge coilpacks at higher rpm (engine is moving faster), less voltage is stored in coilpack and outputted at sparkplug. That's why you have to gap down spark plugs to stop engine missing at higher rpm with stock coilpacks when boost level is raised to prevent spark getting blown out.
Coilpacks have a max voltage, amount of time (in ms) that they can be charged. If overcharge coilpacks they can fail earlier. If undercharge coilpacks it can cause weak spark and missing at higher rpm if sparkplug gaps are wider. To know how long it takes to charge coilpack to certain amount of volts and know max output at sparkplug, would need to test coilpack on bench via oscillioscope, etc (or have the specs of coilpack with ms, volts, etc).
Does that make sense???Last edited by Skym; 03-18-2013, 06:59 AM.RESPONSE MONSTER

I decided to get air care today as it ran out over the weekend, even though my insurance doesn't run out until June because last year i got caught and had to get a day permit to pass it before i could even insure it again.. stupid system...
anyway she passed first time with flying colors, ill write the steps i took for anyone interested, this was on a fresh tank of CHEVRON 94
1.) install cat
2.) go for a long drive immediately before air care test, doing lots of 2nd and 3rd gear pulls getting it nice and hot
3.) right before you pull in, stop and unplug injector #4
4.) lower you car so you only do the idle test
5.) laugh as your car sounds like a Subaru and how the guy doesn't realize its only running on 5 cylinders.
6.) pass with flying colors
7.) get yourself a beer
a couple pics as well from the revscene meet,
like the shiny stainless steel cover i made!
i also picked up a seibon Carbon hood for pennies. the guy hit something with it so its all cracked up and what not. so I've been working on that the past couple days trying to restore it, basically trying my hand at fiber glassing. I dont think the whole CF look will be salvageable, so the plan is to re resin the top and sand it true, probably with a little bondo as well, then get it paint matched KG1.
updates on that when i make some real progress.Last edited by nick-nismo; 04-04-2013, 06:56 PM.Built R32 GTR, BW S362, 682awhp @ 28psi
