I've got the ORC 709 twin as well. I've described it as biting like a pitbull on crack!

It's either settling down with break-in or I'm getting used to it - not too bad now. Gotta tell you I was a bit worried when I first felt it engage.

    Well it's finally been done

    Clutch is installed!

    One thing I must say ... FARKING **** !!!

the ORC 709 (not D) clutch is brutal....

and the response is even more ultimate. more on this later

it doesn't have a sprunged hub so I have to be extra synchronise to shift...

smooth 1st gear engagements... are for the time being inexistant.. and I managed to stall 2-3 times hehe ... the friction point is basically non existant

BUT DAMN I already love it... and the rev seems to climb even faster!

I finally found out what my ex twin plate brand was.

I had an OS giken twin plate which was dampered.

I'll try to give you a quick DIY guide soon for the ORC 709 ... as there is basically no info in english on the net.

all I can say is that the clutch responds VERY quickly and the shift are even faster ... so all the better for my track outings!

Now I'll have to relearn the clutch as I've driven only 15 mins with it but one thing I can't wait is to try it at the track and see how it goes

    -stay tuned

You'll either love it or hate it.

I've got a 709 series twin ORC with the sprung hub. It bites like a pitbull on crack. It takes a bit (ok a lot!) of getting used to, but I don't think it'll ever slip.

Nice project and ideas you got going for your Skyline!
I would recommend you change your timing belt for a Nismo or Tomei one.
$150.00 is not much for a piece of mind! Plus you would want to change it anyways before you make the power you want to make with this project!
Is it normal for a timing belt to flap like that when reving the engine?

    Your car sounds awesome BTW!

Well it seems that the car still has surprises up it's sleeve!

look at what I found today under the cover

    Woohooo!

I decided to check on the timing belt because it made a weird sound ..

can anyone tell me if this is a normal sound? or if the belt seems a bit loose??

it stops doing the sound when the timing belt changes it harmonic oscillation or something

    thanks

Sound of timing belt with cam gears?!The Timing belt and tensionner/idler have been changed since thenThis video shows the sound coming from a somewhat loose...

I had a great weekend at the TRAC Racing Academy

I must also say that I didn't experience brake fade. Everyone of my friends had some but my pedal was very consistent! and I could repeat threshold braking as I pleased after a bit of practice!

    great stuff!

on the down side my already finished tires are now down to the nylon lining

    BUT

I got me some of these!

    BF KDW2'S

can wait to try them on the track

next up I will try to get me some R compound tires
