  • but i have problem with this. It's saying that we as canadians are not able to be as responsible as other nations. There are plenty of other countries around the world that have both LHD and RHD cars in circulation, and turbocharged vehicles accessible for cheap (not reliable by any means, but cheap)

So in banning these cars, we're saying we're not able to cope or deal with such matters, while many parts of the world do just fine.

    • by doing so, we're heading more and more toward a lobby controlled state.

May I reminder every one that the moratory was annonced about 3 weeks after a letter was sent to the transport minister saying that RHD cars were "dangerous"

the letter came from the used car dealers association and CAA quebec....

ohhh noesss badd RHD they are going to flood the market with their 3000 cars compared to 2.8 million! ohhh noooe let's ban them quick

        • "Exemptions... vehicules achetes avant le 29 avril 2009"

so does that mean people who bought them before but have not plated them can now get them plated?

          yes it does!!!

"Les propriétaires de véhicules achetés avant le 29 avril 2009 qui n'ont pas pu procéder ŕ leur immatriculation en raison des arrętés ministériels 2009-05 et 2009-15 auront jusqu'au 31 mars 2011 pour le faire. Chaque propriétaire est responsable de fournir la preuve que le véhicule a été acheté avant le 29 avril 2009. Cette disposition s'applique également aux véhicules légers (connus sous le nom de « Kei »)."

well all those who need this .. i suggest they get on it!@

          • So whats the deal if I want to buy or sell a RHD thats currently and legally registered in Quebec? They don't mention anything about that it seems.

Insurance companies are now going to be even harder on us RHD owners. Also cops are going to pull over every RHD they see and cause problems, which they already do but now I'm sure its going to be worse. Transport Quebec makes me angry, there's so many better ways they could of handled this. Quebec is always the last province to adobt new laws, and they are the first with this.

            • It's official
As of the 24th of April, we can plate cars bought after April 29th 2009 in Quebec.

cars bought before can be re-sold and are still allowed on the road....

The liberals are really pushing this time. I hope next elections they will be crushed by any other party.

              • I haven't followed the whole thread so I'm sorry if this has been explained. Did they ban rhd completely or just the 15 year rule? Is there a 25 year rule? Or is rhd never again allowed in QC?

                • Ok, here a scenario!
I had bought my FD RX-7 Before April 29th 2009. I'm still living in Japan and the car is in Japan as well. If I would ever want to move back to Canada and live in Quebec, would me car be allowed to be plated and legal?

                  My cars:
                  1996 BCNR33 GT-R
                  1992 FD3S RX-7 Type-S

                  • technically... yes, if you can prove you bought it before April 29th 2009.

but I'm sure it could be complicated.

For any RHD to be plated in Qc, it will have to be 25 years old now. The only exception is that if you bought the car before April 29th, 2009, you have until March 2011 to plate it.
