What i am doing here: I am importing an R32 Skyline GT-R early next year from a buddy of mine and this site has kept me well informed on technicalities. It'd be pretty awesome to make some new buddies on here that share the same passions for tuning and racing. My dad brought me up around automotive all my life, so naturally I had a knack for it. I'll probably be going into the field around May, when I'll have credit for level 1 as an Auto Mechanic.

Why am I here: Currently own a TT G35, looking to pick up a BNR32 GTR as a project car, specifically a 89 so I can drive it in 2014 on the roads

        • Hi, my name is Dallas and I live in Kamloops, BC. I just got my first Skyline and I'm very excited about it! I've owned over 70 vehicles in my life, with 47 of them being Dodge Muscle Cars. I've never owned a Japanese (or foreign) car ever, but after watching F&F, I realized how cool Skylines are. I just bought a red 91 GTS-T. It's also an automatic, which is exactly what I was looking for for approx 3 months. VERY hard to find an auto! Looking forward to getting help on this site, as my knowledge of cars is all North American.

About me: I thought I should start on this thread as this will be my 1st post on GTR-C and it seems a good place to begin. My interest in Skylines started with Gran Turismo (1000HP AWD…awesome) and I was given the opportunity to import these supercars almost 5 years ago with a trip to Japan and the first R32’s landed in May ‘04. I have been with The Skyline Shop since then and have countless hours working on R32s’ along with other cars. My work until now has kept me from any real activity on the forums (this is quite new to me) but my ever changing job description has placed me here and I am really looking forward to it! If you want to get to know me or the shop, don’t hesitate to ask any questions and I’ll see (type and read?) you on the forums.

            Later,

            ChadR

PS. Can someone fill me in on the abbreviations commonly used here, I guess you could say I’m a newb?

Why am I here: I feel in love with cars at the age of 14, not having a dad to teach me anything, I've been active in many Forums and clubs reading for hours and days teaching myself everything i possibly could.

My first car was a 1988 Nissan Sentra I picked up from a neighbour for 1000 dollars. thing was MINT and ran awesome 5speed tranny. Miss it to this day.

Second car was a Winter Beater 240sx that was boosted with a t3/t4 turbo till it popped after a month, thats when i bought it was going to swap in a new motor and beat around, ended up parting it out.

Third car was a Black 240sx, had some rust but generally was a decent car. I learned alot with this car, took it apart many times and practiced Sliding around.

Forth car was a Grey 240sx, bought and sold quickly just to make some coin, (Now is swapped with an SR20DET.)

Fifth car was a Cherry Red 240sx Coupe, Loved this car, was very clean with no rust and my first car with an V-LSD, I spent many hours in the corners on a mountain mastering how to get sideways and control my car.

Sixth car was a Purple Skyline GTS-T , Was writen off and I was hoping to rebuild it, (Only damage was to the door a truck went down the side of it)
Ended up parting it out and selling it. ICBC sucks..

7th and final car for now is my new

1991 Skyline GTS-T. I picked her up for 6,300 and found out that its really worth well over 10,000

its got Rockers, Cams, 3 inch turbo back exhaust, Blitz BOV and Blitz intake, Heavy duty Clutch, Front mount intercooler, and R33 Stock Turbo I believe its a T28? and also 660cc injectors.

As it stands, the car is detuned sitting at 6PSI of boost for the winter, in the race season I plan on taking the car to the drag track and Auto cross events and raising the boost to 12 - 14 PSI.

I also plan on using Nistune.

                      Thanks for your time.

                        • Hey, I'm Brendan from Cambridge, Ontario. I registered here a long time ago but I don't think I have posted at all yet.

I currently own half of a '90 GTS-T with a Neo R33 RB25DET swap, an R33 front end and some misc other mods (my friend owns half of it aswell). Not really sure what the plan is with this car, we got a good deal on it so we bought it for no real reason.

I just sold my SR20DET 240SX, minutes after I sold it I was offered an outstanding deal on a '92 GTR that barely runs. I'm fairly sure it just needs a fuel pump due to the AWFUL noises the pump makes... and the fact that it runs exactly like most cars do when they aren't getting enough fuel.

Long story short, the owner isn't a car guy and was importing it for his "friend" that burned him on the deal and flaked, leaving the current owner out a bunch of money and with a car that he knows nothing about and doesn't know how to go about selling it. Friend of a friend's friend's co-worker set me up with the deal, one of those complicated stories.

Now for my first question here - from my understanding it's mostly imported, but still has a Japanese ownership, however the forms to fill out when the car lands have been done and the boarder fees have been paid, but it isn't registered in Canada although it has been sitting here for 3 years. Has anyone gone through a similar process? And idea if there are penalties for it being here, unregistered for this long?

I have imported a car from the US before successfully, it was pretty simple. I imagine it's a fairly similar process to Japanese imports.

Anyway, if anyone has info or if I'm unable to operate the search button (I did search already) and you have a link to offer me, please let me know.

                          Thanks!
                          Brendan.
