I'm tossing some of that on my car soon. Not quite in the same place..

Good job though, does my heart good to see quality work for once.

Gregg @ staffs auto is a great guy but a bit pricey and sometimes takes forever to get something done

Well I suppose thats true, he sure can take a while to get stuff done some times, Ive known him for years and love going to his shop .... alsorts of wicked half tube RX7 race cars ..... and work tables full of moded rotarys and parts

the rebuild store is pretty cool ... could save people a lot of time and collecting of parts

The thing that I liked was the fact that there was no core needed. And the price was right. He has built many engines that went on to see some pretty hard track use.

But if I had to choose one local shop (staffs VS. forcefed) I would choose staffs. Another great Canadian shop is RX7 Specialties in Calgary.

If you brother needs a full in/out swap done... staffs is the way to go. I was able to go with the shortblock due to the fact that I've done this swap before and had the time/space to do it myself.

Nice build man! FDs are one of the sexiest factory bodies ever! Its weird to say on this forum but I especially appriciate the lhd. Not to bash rhd by any means, I just like how rare lhd rx7s are. Good luck with it!

Looks like that bad boy will be shipped pretty soon ... you must be stoked

you mentioned that you where going to get it "dowel pinned" just wondering what that is on a rotary engine and what benefit it has..... never heard of that

                    • It's so the plates don't shift. A lot of torque is exerted on the block. I ended up not doing it. The builder said for my power goals and what I'm using the car for it is un necessary.

                      • Why dId you decide to ditch power steering? I'll probably still be easy to steer, is this car just for track? Or are you going to put one in that takes less turning to aquire full lock??

                        • FD power steering is very light and you get zero road feel. There is no point to have power steering in a car that weights 2500lbs. And yes, it will be mainly a track car. I will be doing a proper manual swap... full manual rack. Not "looped lines" or just removing the pump.

                          • That's what I thought. The difference probably won't be too bad at all.. What's the full manual rack coming from? Did these ever come with manual steering or is it from something else

                            • I'm making it out of the power rack. Opening it up, removing all of the seals and welding a few things closed. It's a pretty standard modification from RX7 and Miata guys.

                              • Falcon, do you know of any Mazda owners sites around calgary or western Canada? I'm kinda wanting to get an fd lately.
