I'm with Personal too for my Subaru. They said no problem for the 1990 GTR @ $1010 a year, but they do not do appraised value and will not disclose how much money they will give you if the car is stolen, written off, etc. It will be no where near what a well modified GTR costs, I can assure you of that.
I just had my appraisal done and the guy that was at my house doing it up told me about Lant "Silver Wheels" coverage. I called them up and with the appraisal at $17K, they will insure me for $300 a year! Only catch is it can't be your primary DD car, but no restrictions on kilometres or anything like that.
The best part is they don't care about mods. The only thing they care about is that the engine is the same size as the one that the car originally came with so no Miata V8 swaps or what have you. Its really nice to find a company that appreciates the fact that we love our cars and take the best care of them. I was really dreading submitting this appraisal to Personal and now I don't have to. The top mount T4 just sticks out like a sore thumb in every picture, no matter what the angle of the engine bay you try to catch.
Highly recommend Lant. The lady I dealt with was straight up, did not give me any of the BS I had to put up with at Personal when I started talking about the car. With Personal I was happy when they said yes to RHD, but I immediately got the impression that I should shut up ASAP and let them ask the questions. Have to act like a tool and when they ask about details... you say the car is blue derp. It's ridiculous how every insurance company has treated me when I bring up this car. I have been a licensed driver for 16 years. Lant is the only one that appreciates that.Last edited by menace; 10-08-2011, 08:50 PM.

I'm interested in what you said about Lant not caring if it is modified. So this woman told you that they only consider it modified if the engine has been swapped from orginal? I have my Skyline on Silver Wheels as well as have been dreading my appraisal due next year because I put wider wheels and bolt on flares this year and I was thinking they would drop the coverage. If what you are saying is true I will be a very happy man!1990 Skyline GTS-t Type M

Only issue with Lant for a lot of us, is that you have to have been driving for over 10 years and have a second (primary) vehicle. If you fit that, you're golden.Originally posted by kengeroothat's what I thought when I opened the package..

Already covered there as I am secondary on the car (in my fathers name and I have my own policies) but I was always under the impression that once it was modified you have to have a 10year driving record even to be a secondary. But if the fact that they don't consider it modified unless it has had an engine swap is true then I'm golden. I was figuring I was going to have to put it on my own policy next year and pay horribly jacked prices. Hopefully I can continue to be a secondary on it and not have to worry....1990 Skyline GTS-t Type M

I inquired with Lant about that. I'm 22, been licensed since I was 17. No accidents, no tickets. They still said I had to have 10 yrs. driving experience under my belt. Even as a secondary driver. I'd call them and clarify, however. If they WILL accept you as a secondary since there was no engine swap or anything, this could benefit a lot of us younger guysOriginally posted by kengeroothat's what I thought when I opened the package..

I drive on a dealer plate right but I'm switching over to my step mom's insurance soon. The car will be insured in her name and she's 38 and never had any tickets. Any idea's of numbers gents? It's a 91 gtr.
