Man you'd be surprised what you can find in the yellow pages. I just found one in Calgary out of the pages that fixed all my problems for me for a very reasonable rate. I'm not rich by any means but I got by.

for this i think just backing down and bending over isnt the right thing todo.
if it was me i would figure it out to the T because i know it would bother me and i would always wonder.

i think u should sit down with your friends. especially if they are your good friends they should tell u the truth.

aside from that i know of someone out here that has a full engine and drive train in good condition from a r33 that he wants to get rid of whole.
I love the thing and its worth it every time I start it. As soon as it stops make me smile ill get rid of it (not gonna happen)

i would just talk to your lawyer, and your friends and get the story 100% straight and let the lawyer decide if its a case you can easily win or if its gonna be a bitch and you may not even end up winning

No offense.......but based on what you have said....

1-either two of your friends have crashed your car who had access to your keys or you did.

2-you left a key in the ignition with the alarm off and it was stolen

Based on the fact there is no forced entry in the ignition and it was Frank's old car which had an alarm. I'm not trying to sound like a negative Nancy but the facts don't add up and you have a witness putting you at the scene.

If your going to pursue it you definitely need a lawyer and stop talking about it.

Hate to say it, but seen it so many times before - the previous owner could still have a key?

Before people jump on me, I don't know anyone here - just throwing that out as an option....

well thats one reason when I drink i don't stand near my GTR for too long.
But whatever might have happened I see more chances of you getting dig deep into this sh*t. Cause once they smell something fishy things can never go smooth. and for the amount of time and money it will take for you to fight this you'll end up paying more then whats your car's actually worth. So just buy another project and forget about this like a bad dream.
Now I know its easier said then done. But what if you end up on the wrong side of things???

              bad rep in their books?
possibly few more dreams in a jail.
              is it worth it?
              I don't think so

well heres what i think happened..

i think your car was stolen... and heres why...

you were not driving you car earlier and when you all arrived back at your friends house you were not the one who locked up your car.... thats why the alarm didnt go off... because it wasnt turned on by your DD.... the reason why there was no forced entry was because someone forgot to hold the handle on the door.... and you dont even need to hot wire a skyline to steal it...

now if one of your friends stole it.... and you can proove it... the most that you can do is charge them with " opperating a motor vehicle contrary to owners consent " which means that nothing will happen to you and your still screwed...

as for these so called witness's, and the cops saying the witness's saw you... thats here say... the cops have no clue what the witness's saw...

if you are being honest and you didnt black out and none of your so called friends did this then you should be safe to persue this matter in a legal way...

cops in situations like this always blame the owner... and oh ya... the whole "fleeing the scene" that they said they "could" charge you with is BS BS BBBBBSSSSSS.... the reason i say this is because of an accident i was in years ago... i was a passenger in a car that rolled over a few times, everyone in the car was a-ok and the only thing that was damaged wasthe car... when the cops arrived they told us we could have waited until the next day to report the accident as no one was injured and no other vehicles were involved...

and for the false statement threats... thats BS too... unless you or your freidns were driving it is not a false statement...

dont let them bully you into anything... if you are innocent then you have all the power
How many kids with A.D.D. does it take to screw in a light bulb?

Cops always lie to you to reveal the truth if it's there. Apparently that's "good" police work.

Best is not to talk w/o legal aid.

yea, so just get it all sorted out, i think u can get past this in a positive way,

also we should stop talking in here about this until it's all over. get legal aid, get your solid story and sleep easy. ( and interrogate the heck out of ur friends)

Hmmmm, I would definitely talk to a lawyer, and ask them if it's worth seeing a doctor before and bruising / injuries would heal.

Then you'd have a "doctor's note" saying the lack of injuries implies that you were not in the car at the time of the accident (I'd assume at the very least shoulder bruising from the seat belt).

Sucks to hear this happened man

                        Definitely find a good lawyer.

Well, my car never had an alarm on it when I bought it.. It's possible the original owner had one installed, but took it off when he sold it to chris, or maybe chris took it out. it definitely never had one when it came into my possession though.
I picked up the police report today and I'll quote, "driver refused to provide statement"

I also believe it's a good idea to not say any more on the subject until I have spoken to a lawyer. I will be calling plenty tomorrow on my lunch break to see who is willing to give me some free advice (since I totally broke the bank buying the skyline ).
If they suggest just leaving everything as-is, and accepting the totaled car, or if they suggest I pursue a case, I'll post it up here. Until then, I thank all of you for your replies
