Yeah but I bought a house since then...

Depending on the magnaflux results, I might still go with the N1 block. RRR is just too freaking expensive.

Funny how life and all those "responsible" things start getting in the way of fun, huh?

It feels like this build is going backward...

Bloc is back from the machine shop with the results of the magnafluxing:

Lots more cracks...I think I found the cause of my prest-oil problem.

So I guess I need a block now. Anyone knows where I can get a N1 for cheap ?

          On a more positive note...

Finally found the time to get the rear passenger window out

It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. A good x-acto knife and some patience is all it takes.

I took it off so I can fix the little rust bubbles I had

but now I'm seriously considering taking all the glass off to facilitate the futur respray...

I'm still waiting on major parts to continue the build so I thought I might as well do something productive.

I removed the carpeting to resolder the exhaust temp sensor that I ripped apart while removing my engine. That's when I saw the floor under the rear seat not painted the same color as the rest of the floor. It was kinda rusty too.

So I removed all the rust with a 3M wheel. The corners were done by hand after that photo was taken. It sucked.

After that came the masking. I was hungry the whole time looking at food on special...

                  And then the primer.

I'll go to Canadian tire tomorrow to buy a can of dark grey to march the rest of the floor.

Got my "new" block yesterday. I stripped it down and dropped it off to the machine shop for boring.

Block is back from the shop. It passed the magnaflux (unlike the first one...) and got 0.5mm overbore.

Now on to gaping the rings...

                            Hey,

I'm glad that the used block I sold you worked out well ! Looking good I hope that you get it running soon. I would keep the water pump that I left on the block for you as it was practically new.

Regardless congrats I hope your happy with the block.

It's probably not gonna go back in before next summer as the car is going to go for a paint job too and I need a little bit of time to save the cash.

The water pump looks brand new but since a N1 is fairly cheap I'll upgrade it anyways. Probably overkill but whatever...

Thanks again for the block zulu !

Time for a small update. The crank got its collar fitted on:

Bought from PTD on this forum. Thanks again mate !

For comparison, here's a shot of my other crank with the oil pump drive wearing out :

                                More to come.
