    Small update

I'm still alive. Slowly starting working on the car again after a busy winter at work and a whackload of money spent on home heating oil... :-x

    New ACL bearings (thanks lalex)

    They're in...

    Plastigauge ready to go

    After plastigauge

The results : all of them are around 0.0018 to 0.002" which is on the looser side (manual says 0.0011 - 0.0019 and 0.09 limit) but it's all good.

Next step: buy clutch and con rods and get everything balanced...

        More goodies...

Parts are getting in more and more often...

        Nismo oil pump:

Saved a couple of hundreds over the Tomei and too scared to get the N1. Perfect for what I'm gonna be doing anyways...

Next step, open it, mae sure there's grease in there (I'm pretty sure there is cause is oozing out... :P) and loctite the bolts.

          Keeping busy

Waiting for parts.....let's rebuild that rear turbo.

It had a slight shaft play and was spitting oil in the intake.

Well I got a problem with my oil pump:

When I tried to put it on the crankshaft, the seal kinda twisted and the metal spring thingie got out of its seat. I wasn't planning on opening the pump but now I had to.

                    Closeup of the spring thingie:

I just put it back where it belongs, under the seal lip:

And in case your're wondering, I got my assembly back from the machine shop yesterday, nice shiny pistons:

A couple of hours later, everything was in:

Next will be getting the oil return fitting welded to the pan (haven't received it yet).

                    Stay tuned !

p.s. Oh and there was some oil in the pump but no grease, so always check it when you buy a new oil pump !

                    • There is nothing wrong with these fittings. These are just HEATER HOSE fittings. Basically they mount to vacuum lines and some coolent lines rather that modifying your whole system to new AN fittings.

By the way, engine looks like it's coming along good. Haven't seen this thread since you first bought the car.

If everything goes as planned, I should have her running in a couple of weeks.

These hoses are part of my oil filter relocation kit. They look like AN fittings but they're really just standard hose clamps.

A new cooler + relocation kit is on my list, probably next winter.

I'm only worrying about putting her back on the road for now.

She was at 354hp before the rebuild. The plan was to take her to 500ish over the next couple of years but I'm sure I'll find something else to dump my money into. I'm pretty happy with that power level anyway.

Maybe a couple of upgrades here and there to make it more reliable but nothing major.

Edit: I definitely need wheels though !

                            • Love the smell of hypoid in the evening...

Dropping a transmission by yourself is always.....interesting.

Anyway she is out. I took it out because I wanted to try to put the engine + transmission back in the car as a whole.

Plus I can change my throwout bearing in the meantime:

For the one supplied with my twin coppermix:

I think I might have found a head...but not confirmed.
