Transmission is out! Wasn't as bad of a job as I thought it would be. Just the top starter bolt and bell housing bolt. Starter bolt I used about a 2 foot extension and ran it underneath the plenum and a little luck got it on the starter bolt and came right out. The top bell housing bolt I used roughly 4 feet of extension with the engine tilted downwards and a swivvel on the end to get at it. Those 2 bolts alone took about half an hour to figure out how to get at them! But all in all for my first time I removed it and the clutch in 3 hours.

The clutch that I pulled out is and HKS triple plate and plans are to rebuild it and eventually sell it or maybe even use it next year. Depends on how much I will like my new OS Giken TS2B.

Anyways just a short quick update. Waiting to get new 4th gear synchros for the tranny and then it will be going back in. Pictures will come when it is re assembled!

So tore down the tranny. My uncle broke the center plate pressing out on of the shafts at his work so now I need a new plate or somehow get the machine shop to magically weld the broken piece back in for me. Anyways heres a few pictures. 4th gear synchro wasnt working and found the reason why..There are 3 clips that hold the synchro in place while in gear and the clips broke, came off and would not allow 4th gear to go in So there is a little bit of damage on the gear itself which I will be ordering the whole shaft which is unfortunate because of the design of our gears. 4th gear is on the end of the shaft which sticks out of the bell housing and into your clutch as you will see in the picture...Sorry if this doesnt make any sense i'm angry cuz the guy at Nissan pissed me off lol...

4th gear is on the far top left of this picture...the shaft comes apart

The broken piece from pressing this shaft out

The new clutch on the bench

The new clutch bolted in and tordued down

So from here I'm looking at taking the broken plate to a machine shop to see what they can do ORRRRRR a much better idea is if anybody has a spare transmission around that wants to part out the center plate I would love that. Also If you have a tranny in perfect working order let me know because I will buy it!

while your at this point you should replace the small 3" hose in the picture above thats above the starter and off to the left abit. my had a small tear in it and I had to remove my intake and everything to get at it. it was a huge PITA. it will take you 2 minutes with your car the way it is now. Trust me you want to do this. When I talked to Andrew from Ztune he even said its one of the worst jobs hes ever done on his car, he was so annoyed with taking the intake off he decided to pull the motor to change that hose, what does that tell you.

Ok so obviously anyone still arguing about the nozzles still hadn't read the post about water/methanol it explains in detail how the water methanol injection with an inefficient intake manifold can actually help to alleviate the problem. If you haven't read it you should it's very informative and isn't that what this forum is all about? Thanks for the post.

you know what the hose is for? I'm not near my car right now but from the pic it looks like it has a cap on it? That the one your talking about?

It's a small coolant hose I believe it's a bypass hose, in the picture in this thread directly above the post I mentioned it on (page 8 I think ?) if you above the starter and to the left a little you will see it it's about 3" and the hose will cost you $5 to make one at parts source. It comes off of that stainless steel line that come around the back of the head. It's the line that turns into a "Y" and one side with the short hose attaches to a nipple on/under the back of the head..sh1t it's really hard to explain. You can see it clearly in the picture

Well the transmission is in and torqued down! Thats the beginning...

I contacted Nissan about that center plate and all the rest of the parts I needed to get my tranny going and it was going to cost me just over $1400 for all the parts. Then I would have had to pay my uncle more money to reassemble it even though he did break the center plate I cant blame him for it I blame nissans casting job. Anyways I put a couple posts up looking for a new trans and a day after I was contacted by a gtrc member and the next night I made the trip down to victoria and bought the trans off of him. $250 compared to $1400 just made my wallet smile!

Anyways yesterday I dropped the tranny in and re hung my exaust. Connected the front driveshaft and the sensors. Today all I have to finish up is bleeding the altessa and finish topping up the trans fluid and change the plugs in my car and then get too see how everything works! Crossing my fingers that this trans is actually what the seller said " perfect running condition"

More updates to come later on...I may be too busy driving it tho

The beast is alive...The new clutch is AWESOME! Feels a little bit stiffer than the HKS but I like it its way smoother!

cschepp....On the drivers side kick panel there is one plug in there that controls the auto air bleeder. You need to unplug this unit. And at the back of the transfer case there is a nipple above the hose which is the line from the trunk. Get a piece of hose so that the fluid doesnt fly everywhere. Turn the key to the on position for no longer than 20 seconds at a time. Then crack the bleed nipple and let the air come out. Do this repeadedly until no air comes out. Then hook up the plug and and tighten the nipple. Takes about 10 minutes for the job its quick and easy! Hope this helps
