Progress has been slow lately as I'm still waiting for all the stuff I ordered. I got all the rubber coating off the dash panels, and its in decent enough condition that I'm going to re install it. When I get sick of the gloss, I will paint in matt black.
I decide to swap in the Mine's speedo into the stock cluster today. As mentioned previously, the Mine's cluster does not have an A-LSD light on the tach (not V-Spec)
After taking off the gauge surround (4 screws), only 3 screws have to be removed and 3 harnesses have to be unplugged to take the cluster out.
Here are both clusters side by side, with the clear covers off. Both the clear cover and bezel are held on by tabs.
Here are the back of the clusters, the circuit boards are basically identical, asides from labeling pertaining to the ALSD. The five -brown bulb holders are for the 192/168 type bulbs that light up the cluster.
Here are the part numbers on each of the gauges; they are all identical besides the speedometers and tachometers.
To remove the speedometer, only the 4 screws around the black tab need to be removed.
With the speedo units swapped, and lots of time wasted dusting the faces off and removing the smudges my fingers left, I am left with this.
The unit is in the car now and works well!Last edited by PurpleStreak; 09-24-2011, 06:30 PM.

A couple of days ago, I received the S15 steering wheel. First I made sure the wheels were pointing straight. I popped off the aftermarket wheel via 6 screws on the boss, and undid the 19mm nut to release the hub. I was met with the sight of the usual HICAS clock spring.
To make sure it was centered, I rotated it clockwise till it stopped and rotated it CCW 2.5 revs and lined up the marks.
I then popped on the S15 wheel, and the clockspring fit perfectly on the wheel. The length of the splines on the steering wheel hub was not as long as the boss adapters', but this did not affect the spline engagement.
I believe there would be two harnesses for this wheel, one for the horn and one for the airbag. I only got the one for the horn. Obviously the connectors dont match so I cut off the harness and put a spade connector and connected it to the 'harness' for the aftermarket wheel. Then, I secured the air bag cover to the wheel with two M6 x 1.00 bolts. Annndd its done!
I still haven't got the damn LEDs so I havent put the dash back together yet. I did receive the boots, and my super fancy Jensen VM9214BT head unit [http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-VM9214BT.html]. I'm not really an audiophile, but I do enjoy my bass (which this car has none of). This unit should be enough to satisfy my needs (till it breaks anyway) Let the hate begin! On a side note, I moved the climate control unit below the location for the head unit, so the only thing the screen will obscure is the gauges. Any tips on moving the head unit to where the gauges are, and fit the gauges in the middle DIN slot?
