When we decided to cut the plenum to fit the stock CMC, we were a bit apprehensive on doing it. However, we were not even close to the 6th cylinder velocity stack when we cut the plenum. There is still lots of air volume to flow in. If however, it did affect the HP numbers, we were still happy with the hp numbers we pulled. For this daily driver, we know we overbuilt it for the street and maxing out the capabilities of this build could potentially get us well over 1000hp (with the right circumstances of course) But we want to set an example to our customers that if you invest all your hard earned money into your project car, sometimes stretching it to the limits would be more costly in the long run. (we want to push it, but not to the VERY extreme)
As far as 2014, we are going to retune and try to see what we get, since we corrected the boost falling issue. We also are trying to convince Nguyen to buy the tomei expreme ti exhaust (though he had full titanium straight pipe on it before and hated how loud it was)
This should help a bit with flow.
So keep checking back for the retune numbers.
But again, we were happy with making 852whp at our elevation (3500ft above sea level)
Our dyno is a dynomite dyanometer if that matters to anyone.Last edited by Chopsticks; 12-26-2013, 02:49 PM.Link ECU / Nistune / Apex'i / Greddy / HKS / Cosworth / Megan Racing / Agency Power / Tomei / Perrin / Cobb / Aeromotive / Stance / HSD / Battle Version

This was done due to time limitations. A Wilwood pedal box with inboard master cylinders would have accommodated for this, but the deed has been done.
That said, there hasn't been any indications that the plenum is not providing equal distribution of airflow to each cylinder; as there had been no evidence from:
-plug readings
-compression tests
-physical indicators upon tear-down
We will be testing this further by utilizing multi-channel wideband as the Link ECU is capable of individual cylinder correction.
But likely we will be upgrading to a RIPS or Hypertune, as the supplier of the plenum currently on the GTR we will no longer be carrying.

Just seems really silly, relocate MC vs. ruining plenum and potentially making the engine short lived especially given how much power you're running. It's your guys' money and build though. Everything else looks nice, stock driveshaft and cv's?

For now stock driveshaft's and CV's until they blow.
This is our test bed to determine the limitations of the components so this knowledge can be passed down to our customers. (CV's, dshaft, etc)

The part would have needed to be ordered directly from Wilwood, and extra time would have been spent to mount, fabricate etc.
The vehicle was taking up shop space which could be used for our customers, so the decision was made to modify the plenum.

Thats why most guys in Japan stayed with the stock displacement and spun them to 10k. They kept the torque in check and made big HP with revs. IIRC the JUN Super Lemon and the HKS Vmax car both ran stock gears, housings and axels (with off the shelf after-market diffs) for a very long time before they upgraded....not untill the mid 8s.
