  • So all the Godspeed fittings suck royally. From the kit, ive managed to use only the line / cooler and remote plates.. The rest has been changed!

    All the fittings ended up leaking - pissed me of, a whole lot.

    I also had way too much line under my hood so today i went all out and redid it all!

    Piece of sh*t adapters (right);

    Lines are all nice and hidden now;

    Cooler pokin out the bottom;

    Engine bay shot;

    Finally done.. i hope .. lol So far so good

    • yeah the problem with those cheap kits are the quality of the fittings. Many fail from shitty china fittings.

      Also, try to protect your chassis and electrical from rubbing against the SS lines. They can eat through anything.

        Good point, one of the loose ends i didnt tend too very well last night.. They're in there pretty snug too - jammed up against my frame rail and my power steering lines..

        What do you normally use to stop chafing?? just wrap them with a few layers of electrical tape?

        • i used rubber or silicone hose, spliced over the ss line, and taped in place, that will last forever compared to just electrical tape

            • geez! what a nightmare with those fittings! glad its all sorted now, hopefully we can get some good wether this tuesday.

              i didnt tell you but pete and i got some never before heard knowledge from a JDM shop owner on camera... we arent sure what we're gonna do with it yet or if it will make final cut of the movie, but either case when you hear this story, its unbelievable... essentially its the story of how JDM imports all started ... starting from 50 years ago.

              stoked!

              • so whats up with the badge? gonna do a 26 swap? and attesa?
                might as well get a gts-4 and drop in the 26 save time and not wasting weight with that oil pan.
                Real Skyline owners have lost at least one to a freakish accident (*- ω -) = #dungive'a

                  26??!!?!?!?!?!111?! no sir

                  GTSR was a stock bottom end RB20DET(R) making 460hp that was in the Gibson Motorsports 1260kg, 89 HR31.

                  Basically what i'm looking at attaining - for the moment..

                  I'll admit, i dont have the time, money or patience to push 400 wheel on a stock bottom end so i'll likely limit to just shy of 400 crank, so in the area of ~340-360 whp..

                  Top end will be stock as it's currently 150-155 across and should hopefully, hold off another season. From what i know the HR31 was running a reworked RB20 head with cosworth pistons, rings, shotpeened cosworth rods and stock bottom end. Will likely play with compression - fitting a 1.5 mil hg - studs will be swapped of course (ARP), and the rb20 cams will be ground down (http://www.kelford.co.nz/regrinds) to mimick the Tomei Poncams (seeing as lift/duration can be had with a reground as tomei cams are such that).. Paired with adjustable cam gears and the works, i'm really hoping to see some serious power..

                  The turbo will be a hybrid rb25. I have a neo 6 turbo here that's blown to pieces - cherry turbo will be rebuilding it this winter.. Keeping the journal bearings for a quicker low end spool, swapping the wheels and CHRA for something different - probably something like a 2876. Should still see full spool around 3300 with the the journal bearings (less resistance) then the 2876 BB Setup. Still not 100% though on this setup.

                  Definitely not AWD.. Not interested in the front drivetrain of the GTS4 or GTR.. Too much going on there for me.

                  Going to lighten to car up a bit more, however i will be sacrificing a bit..

                  Car is weighed in at 1120kg now - rear seats are coming out permanently, as is the carpet. Going to be putting in a floor brace across the rear section, and maybe even a small cross brace section instead of a cage - then covering all this with a carbon fibre overlay to mimick a bench seat which will have padding on top with straps to strap down bags (for school) and fire extinguisher..

                  I hate having people in the back seat and it's happened twice in 2 years so i can honestly say it's not necessary.

                  since the carpet's disappearing, i'll be painting the floor panels black and then welding in holders for the Skyline mats, to at least have those rather than bare floor. OR i may just keep the front section of floor and ditch the rear.. Again, up in the air.. It still has to be functional - it's my DD in the summer.

                  Going to drill out about 90% of the rear rebar and front rebar (what's left of it lol)

                  Remove other random braces n junk.. Hoping with the additonal parts i throw on i can keep it under 1150kg, but at my target hp, i'm not too concerned about a few kgs.

                  For those thinking about the trans - i'll be rebuilding my RB20 trans this winter .. Not going the 25 route.

                  I will redo the synchros (2nd, 3rd are iffy) and see how the gearsets themselves look. I have seen a 3rd blow (Klys) so i am a bit leery about the setup, but i have a guy who can make me a completely forged gearset.. FOR A PRICE of course lol. But regardless - if i can run an entirely bullet proof gearset, i'd be happy to continue using the rb 20 trans as it is the lightest alternative at this point and keeps the weight configuration in the same general position. From what i understand the 25 will sit a bit further back, and weight wise i think we're talking 35-40 lbs difference, but dont quote me on that.

                  I'm really looking forward to this winter .. There's a lot of carbon fibre work i'll be doing and sharing with everyone and a lot of pieces will be made to sell here. Expect a group buy mid winter for parts that seem of interest!

                  ---------------------

                  Few questions;

                  Aluminum rad, such as Koyo for instance - is it really worth it?

                  I've never had an issue with water temps, even on the track. Currently running water/waterwetter and about 10% glycol (iffy about water wetter acting as a lubricant..). Never had an issue - should i be looking into swapping my original unit?

                  • if your looking to save weight by removing the carpets.. well.. i for one took the whole floor carpet off my old gtr before sending it to scrap, and it probly weighs less than 10lbs

                    are you going to port your current exhaust manifold?

                    do you know if the 26's tranny gearset works with the 20 tranny? if so, i got a 2x 26 tranny sitting here, i can make you a really nice price for 1, and deliver it

                    and about the rad, if your thinking about doing alot more track next year, real lapping, you MAY need something more effective than stock

                    • Yea i weighed it last year when i was going through stuff and it just seemed negligable at the time, now im debating hah

                      Yea, the exhaust ports on the head, exhaust manifold head and turbo side, then gasket matched.. Maybe have the manifold extrude honed if i have the keeessshhh but i plan to remove a ton of material, including the dividing plate between the 3 banks to the turbo.

                      Any numbers on this? As far as i know, it's all based on speculation. I'd assume the rows/fins are more numerous and its thicker.. Which ideally would be best as in the same respect to an intercooler.. But aluminum vs the original copper?..

                      • Oh and the gearset, no i dont think it'll work, sits a bit further back, i think id have to machine a ton from the input shaft to get it to even fit.

                        • how did you get your car to weigh 1130kg?

                          this I don't understand. How much fuel in the tank?

                          My car has lots deleted and weighs like 1230kg. I just don't understand where you lost that 100kg.

                          • i think the design of the fin would be similar, but the koyo rad is so much thicker

                            and the endtanks of the oem rad are plastic which could crack after many high heat cycles, and its probly 20 years old, but the koyo is 100% alu
                            also, you shouldn't use an aftermarket rad cap with the oem rad, since the rad itself could crack and leak from the higher pressure
