This shouldnt be too much of an issue for you, until they tell you that they are going to drop you you are ok. Also if you did get a drop notice she likely couldnt help you anyway, when the underwriters change their insurable lists there usually isnt much a broker can do to help you.

No notice thankfully. But my rates did go up 20$ :@ (Im not actually complaining considering the condition of insurance in the GTA/Ontario).

                    • Can someone explain what would happen if I removed my full coverage and only had liability ($1 mil) and got hit (assuming I'm not at fault). Would I be covered? Would my company be paying or the person who hit me's insurance?

                      • Is it "no fault" in Ontario?

If it's the same "no fault" as Quebec (which somehow I doubt), the other company would pay. You would still claim through your company at no charge, but then behind the scenes they go get their money back from the company of the guy that hit you. I got hit once with my old Tercel, only had liability and they paid everything.

But like I said I don't know if it's the same in Ontario. Easiest way to find out is to call your company honestly, they will tell you right off the bat how it would work.

Call your broker and ask, they are to act in your best interest and you will get the actual implications of the change not our assumptions. Just make sure you dont call the insurance company directly, they are there to make money and keep you on the most expensive policy possible.

I don't have a broker, I found my company directly as they insure engineers are their families.
