Well first off from any reading Ive done, Oil starvation is only an issue when you hold high RPM for extended periods of time, like circut track racing and stuff, which I dont. If i starve my engine of oil in less than 12 sec on the 1/4 mi track, I have other issues lol.

This being said, I still went above and beyond what was needed for me. I have Tomei Oil pan baffles, the Tomei oil restrictor in the block, and ported all my oil returns in the block and head.

I would love to see someone do the spline gears from spool RB, Im curious to see how they will hold up compared to these gears for $200-300 less. Too bad they have such poor customer service. But from what I read they make pretty good stuff, so Id imagine their gears are just as good.

It's not just high rpm that starves the bearings. High G cornering/ many corners (which a sump baffle doesn't solve), high cylinder pressure/boost (have seen a few local examples running N1 oil pump and at 1.5bar on -5/ nismo 581/ big twins if someone cares for which) and the rod bearings got crushed (running stock bearing clearances). Builders found that theN1 oil pump didn't have enough pressure to oppose the cylinder pressure but a Nitto, greddy or tomei pump would have saved the engine.

Nothing to really worry about if you're using it as a street driven daily car but beefing up a stock pump would solve all oiling problems. With that being said, even with the longer pump snout on the cranks, there's been reports of greddy and tomei pump failures still.

yea, for me (street and drag) it shouldnt be much of a issue. at the end of the if it blows up it blows up... rebuild and try again. Im doing what I can with my budget. Just about any platform will eventually experience issues with high g oil starvation and high boost related issues, cant solve em all the first try unless ur rich... and im not hahahaha

lol i get it, i rebuilt my speed6 twice, it sucks, but unfortunatly i cant afford to fix every thing that could possibly go wrong. especially at this point i would need diff gears for an diff pump. My N1 worked perfect all summer with stock gears, and honestly what ive done so far is overkill fo my application.

Thanks man. I just found a fella on FB that bought the Spool RB gears too, so it should be interesting to see how both hold up and work. Dont get me wrong, what he is saying is correct, and if you vehicle is being built for the types of racing where you will encounter high G corners and consistent long/high RPM runs, an N1 pump may not be for you, but for some applications, such as mine, were it will me street driven, and a toy most of the year and dragged about 203 times a year (because I dont live close to a track at all), then some of the "good mods to do" and become overkill.

My roommate is bad for doing everything he reads on the internet that his engine needs to be a monster, and I just sit back and shake my head, we are both doing the same build right now and hes has about 2k more than me into his set up on his 2JZ. People convinced him that he needs a big adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator when he plans on running stock fuel pressure anyways, and adjustable cam gears for his Crower cams that are optimal both at 0 degrees. Im not sayign that getting a big fancy kick ass oil pump is a bad idea in any case, and if I wasn't getting married this year I would probably do it for the hell of it just to eliminate any worry (not that they are 100% proven either), but unfortunately I have to cut corners where I can to kee p this build less than the wedding lol (her words).
