Of the 3 tickets I got, I fully admit I was in the wrong, sometimes you have to swallow your pride. No matter the circumstance, it doesn't change the fact that you have done something illegal. Twice I was dinged for speeding because I was late for work, and the 3rd was a driving with Undue Care and Attention. Even thought I was using trying to use discretion, care and attention upon said act, the fact was I was still doing something Illegal. Explained myself to the officer and he seemed Understanding, but still had to write me up. I admitted my fault to the officer, had a nice(read:Polite) chat for about a half hour and he let me go with the 1 ticket, Potentially I could have had it alot worse. But the one thing that Really Bothers me is that because of that incident I have been labled a *Street Racer*, although the Circumstances do not dictatate nessicarily Street racing, and it would seem that My car would get impounded for whatever successive infraction occurs. I was not Speeding, there was no other Driver or car involved, nor was I on the open road. perhaps it was a Lack of good judgement altogether, but atleast I trying to engage in my *activity* In a somewhat controlled environment and surroundings.

Ha, havent been on here in a while. But no more skyline for me now, I bought an explorer so now im invisible. I got issued another vi, but this time the illegally searched my car, tried to say I had a gun in the trunk, took and deleted my voice recorder and digital camera and refused give badge numbers or names, as well as took my inspection report and some other paper work saying "they would mail them back after copying them". this was about the eigth incident like this

but still to this day no speeding tickets or anythign, just minor infractions like my N isnt clear enough (was in window but officers were trying to find something to ticket me with so they tooka picture from the side of the rear window at night with the flash on so it looked like it wasnt there.

One phrase sums it up! Cops in Nanaimo are awesome. A couple other guys have had similiar problems but not as extreme. But like one officer said.... its the shiny rims and my age!

            A work in progress!

that's my style :| .. well ill see next year if po po will pull me over often but like some said play it cool.. because police officer are person not robot if your cool with them and play it by the law i dont see nothing wrong.. and make sure you have a cat ON.. i know chinese people eat cat's but make sure you have a cat on that muffler

and as for cops doing ilegal search etc.. just ask them if they have a search warrant of probable cause and if so how did they came to those conclusion.. protest their judgment sometimes but make it sound like your the average joe who wanna cooperate but doesn't want his legal rights violated and should be fine..

and here's a small example of the police not knowing laws etc.. a couple weeks ago we went to bromont wich his in quebec with a rhd car club for a photoshoot but didnt knew we where on a private property so the police came and needless to say they both looked at us like street racers with no solid reason except the cars where all rhd so some talk about exhaust size and laws bla bla bla.. and no fine.. so if its the law he could have poped a measurement tape and isued us fines.. or VI but none of that stuff so maybe its harrasment to convince the people that rhd cars are stupid and we should stick to some shitbox honda accord or something

Wow ive been reading up and there are really mixed reviews about the cops

I got pulled over only once in my skyline (And hopefully it stays that way)
I didnt have my front license plate on. The previous day i detailed my car and took the front plate off to take photos. Looked at the car and i liked it without the plate, so i put it onto the dashboard right in front of the windshield (like some of my buddies done and never gotten problems). Next day less than 24 hours later there were cops on the side of the road and they werent ticketing anyone so they flagged me down and old me t turn around

I was very cooperative with the cop, being polite and considerate and he still wrote me a ticket. 100 bucks. Im disputing it. It happened in April and i still havnt gotten a court date.

Im in BC btw, so front plates are mandatory. I should just mount it to the side. Ticket=100 bucks. Plate holder (even a pricey JDM flip up one costs less than that i think)

If any of you have been following this forum you will know of my recent troubles with cops

now not trying to contradict everyones opinions on this forum (including mine)but i was actually cut some slack by a cop today
i was doing 70 in a 50 zone and i got pulled over
                  alright
thats my fault, ill eat the ticket.
but after a long chat with the surprisingly polite officer he let me go with only a warning

Now all i want to do is point out the diffrence between traffic cops and real cops here
this cop was a real cop

Traffic cops are the ones that are too scared to deal with criminals and hide behind street signs and billboards and give you rediculous, unecessary tickets for our exhaust tailpipes etc.... They have no respect for the population and pretty much hate anybody that owns a vehicle. And are often the utmost hypocritical human beings on the planet

Real cops are the ones that keep cereal killers and car theifs etc.. off of our streets and have some reason in what they do.

So if any of you had lost all respect for cops. (wich i had until last night)
                  theres the traffic piggys
                  and real cops

they arent all dicks to us,.
                  just the traffic piggys

@ SmegEad: OK dude, you're killin me too.... And how do I get down on this geriatric crew? I'm getting up there... We should pull a timmy's run one night... I keep promising Chewy that I'll call but the time never seems to come along... Maybe if I had a little bit of peer pressure thrown in I'd fold!!

Well, I've only had good cop experiences with my GTR (after nearly 2 years), in the same town as shore rider. I can't figure out what you did, Adam, but somehow you really pissed them off!! I won't go into my experiences as there's little story to tell. My dad taught me this one when I was still really young: No matter what you do, on the side of the road he's a cop and your not. Plain and simple. Shut your mouth, take your ticket, and dispute it if you want. No matter what, you're never gonna win an arguement with a cop on the side of the road.

I hate to admit it, but the old bugger was right. 14 years driving, and haven't had any major problems in the last 12. The first 2 years? well, it was more like 11 months before they took my license away, and another year of working to pay off the tickets....

if a cop threatens you with a search warrant tell him you'll be waiting in the car for it. most cops are full of empty threats be respectful but don't be pushed around.

I got ticketed in June for going 75 in a 50 zone.

Standard Vancouver Police, on a rainy day camping out in Kits in bus stops (sneaky) and pulling over 5-7 cars at once.

I was angry, but at myself. The cop was sincere, right to the point and told me exactly why I got a ticket. Nothing else.

108 after discount for paying in 30 days. He said I could have gotten a 257 dollar one. Didn't dispute, paid the next day at an ICBC office.
I learned from this and haven't gotten a ticket since.

The only ONE thing that ticked me off was when the officer said, "Have a better day" after giving me the ticket. haha

Generally the rule of thumb for police nowadays with vehicles such as ours is as long as we're not doing anything illegal like breaking speed limits or racing then they won't pay us any mind. Early in 06 a Vancouver police officer pulled behind my Skyline when I was parked infront of a starbucks and asked me if the car was legit and if I had my papers in order.

I happened to have all of my papers on me from the registration at the time so I showed him my ICBC documents, the attached VIN and registration etc. Of course, this also prompted the 20 questions of "how did you import it?" and "why?" as he was under the general assumption all Skylines had turbo. When I popped the hood and showed him it was N/A he asked me some personal questions as to why non turbo and such. I told him it's an enthuiast vehicle and that people who drive it don't always have N/A cars and I'm just a rare exception.

As I preach as best I can to RHD owners, just be patient and offer to educate. Police do listen and take info in. I drive in Vancouver with confidence and all over Richmond and hell, once inawhile you can see my car parked at the RCMP detachment when I have to run into City Hall.

Out of about 3 pull overs... all were tools (victoria) The first one was having a bad day or something, I had my L and he gave me every single ticket he could. I was going 50 in a 40 zone.. (oak bay, I assumed it was 50 but w/e)

Lesson learned, Oak bay cops are pricks. Also, dispute every ticket, After everything. the speeding ticket and "do no display L" ticket ended up costing me 800$ The tickets, points, lost my liscence for 1 month.

Wow, I though paying the tickets was harshenough a the time (16, barely had any money, didn't drive for a year :P)

Anyway. Next was Running a red (it was yellow you bastard) The cop was extreamly rude and yelling at me, also threatened me. At the time I didn't want to make a stink of it cause i was delivering pizzas and didn't want all the cops to be after me... should have because his threats were totally uncalled for and his attitude was unprofessional.

After that was a stupid "NO turn left after 4" at 4:05 pm... Fighting it, its been 6 months since I disputed it

                                still nothing.

Hopefully they get back to me after a year, cause it gets canceled.
