hey cobraa, a friend of mine had very severe paint fade (clear) on his hood and trunk and decided to apply wipe on clear coat 2 layers(i forget the brand) as his clearcoat layer may have been too thin to just wetsand/buff. anyways i saw his end result after buffing and it looked like new. my question is, would you ever do this or does this seem like something to avoid and just get it recleared (sprayed)??

Never heard about it. I do high-end detailing and the way you tell me about it, it look like your friend did it with a spray can ? If that's the case, you can bet I will never do such low-end kind of job.

A proper way to repair faded clear coat is by compounding or a total re-spray but not a half-a** job I'm the guy people comes to me when their paintjob went wrong. I repair the other guy's job. I bet you 1000$ I would find many defect on his job. Avoid that kind of job. do it right.

Avant de commencer, je voudrais dire que j’ai eu bien du plaisir à vous rencontré, vous avez été bien sympathique, si vous avez d’autres questions, hésitez-pas.

Donc, on commence par la voiture de madame, une mazda 3.

L’histoire a commencé avec des touch-up de peinture mal faite qui ont fait que Monsieur s’est tourné vers moi pour corriger la situation!





Et maintenant, vous en pensez quoi?





Ça, c’était le test spot. Le lendemain, j’apprends que madame est très satisfaite et veux que la voiture au complet, soit fait! Pari gagné! :P

Voici, comment je reçois l’auto :





















Donc, oui, l’auto est ‘,entretenu’’ par deux enfants, c’est une 2009, elle est en magané, mais disons que les swirls, deep scratches et autres sont plus présent. Un bon nettoyage est nécessaire.
Comble de malheur, la batterie de ma caméra rend l’ame.. donc vous avez seulement des after-pictures.

Les trims sont tous protégé pour l’hiver

Voyez les sun shot, les swirls beaucoup diminués et le pearl pop vraiment!









Et sautons à l’intérieur.. la section du centre es tun vrai cauchemar, tout parrait! Les marques, les lignes, quelle mauvaise idée de mazda!

Je crois avoir réussi à bien le faire.

Et voyez comment mince est la peinture, j’ai pas pu faire mieux que ça comme correction principalement du à la mince couche de peinture. Pour tout ces petits détails, vous me verrez jamais au volant d’une Mazda, mais ça me fait plaisir de les remettres belle, par contre!

Même chose que la Mustang Shelby, quelqu’un avait fait un detail sur la voiture et avait laissé pleins de marque, hologrammes, swirls, cire dans les fents, résidu de compound séché sur les moulures, water spot, rien d’extreme, mais c’est loins d’être un détail!

Now let see what the sun have to say about it lol!...

Car has lots of curve so obviously it makes every panel wetter. The Wolfgang is an excellent wax for both wet and metallic while still lasting a very long time for a wax. In fact, this paint has metallic flake in it so I wanted to make it look a bit brighter instead of total wetness

Do you see anything wrong with the correction? All I say is 100% correction there haha

















Wheels were detailed with a sealant, tire gel and wheel well

Took me 15 minutes per wheels to very clean all crack in the calliper and wheels but I made it and it simply look BRAND NEW, just that simple.








Very little orange peel and very detailed clarity.

Alors, aujourd’hui je vous présente une autre très belle Porsche, j’ai rien de spécial à vous dire donc sautons aux photos tout de suite!

Ohoh inspectons la peinture avec mon sun gun..










So… still super clean !?? Ummmm freakin light hen!! Always there to make things ugly!

Alors, ce que j’ai fait ici est le nettoyage de base:

2 bucket with 4 grit guard
Sheepskin wash media
Quality soap
Wheels done with 2 boars hairs brush
Color turning wheel cleaner
Clay bar
Etc etc!!

See how nicely this brush reach small spot.




Maintenant que la voiture est sèche : on tape les moulures :



Applying wheel sealant :


Polishing the exhaust tip even tho it’s brushed, lots of carbon caked on the pipe!


I then clean the engine bay for a overall clean look, you know what I mean

Cleaning the inside with a microfiber just ot make sure I’M not scratching the paint on the outside. Small detail!




Let’s look the thickness of the paint before removing too much paint:










Fast forward, I’m doing a 3-step polish on this car:

Notice that major scratch: ?



I couldn’t do a full correction because notice how thin the pain is on that scratch.. I can’t remove too much really! Heureusement j’avais mon paint guage, j’ai pu voir que j’avais mince de peinture, j’aurais peut-être pu brulé la peinture!


Par contre, sur le hood, c’est bien :

So yeah, I hope you enjoyed, I really did enjoy working on this car, as you can see the car was in rough shape but I think I did a very ncie job and those care are beautiful once fully polished . Hope to see more Porsche owner around!!
