          Arleigh,

I saw your car while picking up a part from a mutual friend but I wanted till now to ask since it was "too early.

Your car looks like it's still in very good condition so what are the plans on the drawing board? Will you simply back pedal a few steps, repair the issues and go forward again, as originally planned? It would be good to see someone go through with something like this as most simply part out of sell off. Curtis Goodman did good and came back much harder!!!

            Hi All,

It's been a few weeks since my motor popped. It was first thought that it was the ring lands on the 5th piston that went. But now that the motor is apart we have found the botton end to be in perfect condition except for a light ding on the top of #5 piston. The cause seems to be a weak spring on the exhaust side of #5 that cause the valve to float/slightly bend an stick open about the width of a flat head screw driver. It's still not good but it could have been alot worse if the valve would have fallen into the cylinder. With the help of some great friends I hope to have it back up an running within the next 2wks.

            Stay tuned

            Ar

Good to hear the problem isn't as bad as thought. Just for my curiousity, with all that power, which aftermarket springs did you go with during the build?

Just a quick update, head is back at BEL getting the bad valve redone, got an extra set of stock springs an we are going to use the best springs out of the bunch. I'm thinking now that I over reved the motor which is what caused the valve float. Just going to have to set the rev limiter a tad bit lower for safety.

Wouldn't it be cheap insurance to pick up a set of aftermarket springs? I mean for $300 bucks you can't go wrong.

Great looking car and awesome build. Best of luck!
