        • Chapter 18 - Theworkstillinprogress, week6

          ------------------------------
          Day 21

so i started the week by removing the radiator,
its still in absolutely great condition, but i got to make room for the new one, hehe

i fawking hate coolant, spilled everywhere, and its so hard to clean it up
and i don't think i removed it the right way, because it was a real PITA and took way too much time

then realized my rad fan was cracked worst than i thought

i'm still looking for an brand new OEM fan, if anyone has any info into that, plz tell so

then i removed the cold side intake piping, and the cam gear cover

another pita job, still think i might have done it wrong

          surprise!

i already had adjustable cam gears !, shiiit,

i have a BNIB Greddy cam gear for sale

          end of day 21

          ------------------------------
          Day 22

i got my UltraRace fender braces in the mail, i had almost forgotten about this, ordered more than 5 weeks ago

and i went to drop off a couple parts for powder coating,
          colors are secret

then when i came back, i finished up my charcoal canister delete

i simply cut the vaccum hoses and blocked them with screws

then i had to re-route the gas tank breather to the frame rail

since i didn't have an adapter from one size to the other, i simply put the smaller hose inside the bigger, slightly clamped it, and voilà !

          ------------------------------
          Day 23

on this day, i did a small shop run to pick up some crap

first stop, autoworx, closed, no reason...

          second stop, TuboQuip

since they fawked up my order, and some stuff wasn't ready, the guy at the counter ''forgot'' to charge some stuff

          what i got

          - 4" of 2" industrial silicone tubing
          - random length ~16" of 2" tubing
          - random length ~12" of ¾" tubing
          - 3 feet of ¼" silicon tubing
          - 8 feet of 3/8" nylon tubing
          - 2x 3/8" to 5/8" 90deg metal tubing
          - 2x ¼" copper fittings
          - random small hose clamps

          ......36$

          third stop, Perry Auto Laval

picked up stuff i have ordered a while ago, but couldn't go pick it up because its a stretch for me to get to this shop, but they had a big open shop / BBQ day, it was awesome

          i grabbed some of it

          - a full case (12L) of 10w40 RedLine synthetic motor oil, it was on special thus cheaper then my usually Motul oil which was out of stock
          - (8x) pairs of 3,24" to 3,65" Vibrant T-Bolt clamps
          - (1x) pair of ~2,8" Vibrant T-Bolt clamp
          - Carbon style Autometer [-30, +20]psi mechanical boost gauge
          - blue LED replacement buld for Autometer mechanical gauges
          - (2x) 500ml Motul RBF660 DOT4 brake fluid

then when i got home, i deleted my no-longer-functionnal power steering/hicas fluid cooler

and removed the oil filter relocator plate

removed, (then realized i shouldn't have removed it, because i got a great idea to re-use it afterwards, will talk about it next week)

then picked up the Simple Green and cleaned alot again

          ------------------------------
          Day 24

so i tried to remove the intake manifold, to also send it to paint

after a while, i only had 50% of the job done and couldn't do anymore, i just don't have to ability to do it, i fawking hate,
i wasn't the one who swapped it the last time

i also spent a bit too long removing the Cusco brake master cylinder stopper..

i then decided to move on to something else, the fenders

after a quick looksy, i saw that it was a really simple job to remove the fenders, only 11 small bolts each

then i tried to fit my fender braces, but the holes didn't line up, so i took this pic and sent UltraRace and email, darn Malasian craftmanship

again, i decided to move on to something else

took the valve covers off, for paint

          stock cams..

          leftovers,

yeah.. only 4 days of work but..

          / week 6

today i was supposed to have a buddy come by to help me out with the intake manifold (the guy who helped me the first time)
but he forgot to call after work,
so i gave him a shout, he said he could come on tuesday, but that was a bit tight since i needed the part ready for paint for wednesday

then i told me; "wait i think i can help you out alot more, and faster, i think i still have an RB26 intake manifold somewhere in my storage''

i'm like; "oh sweet, how much do you want for it?''

him; ''well, come to think of it, i got a whole lot of stuff from my GTR i don't need anymore, come by and pick up anything you want'' (i bought a TT G35 after selling his GTR)

me; "i'll be there in 20!!''

he wanted to keep a couple things for a friend's car, and his G

but look at what i came back with, a trunk full of stuff !!!

          - 1x R33 steel wheel turbo (blown seals maybe)
          - 2x RB26 intake manifolds
          - RB26 head
          - ATESSA pump
          - complete rear wheel assemblies, minus brakes
          - GTR rear swaybar
          - RB26 valve covers
          - front plastic undertray
and a couple other small stuff

so for the coming week, i'm enlisting the help of mitch to do my timing belt, (i hope so :biggrin
i'll keep modifying my power steering system with my clever design
i'm going to try to install my new boost controller
and i'm still waiting on josh to come pickup the parts he told me he would buy.. 5 weeks ago..

and while i wait for more parts, and paint to be done, i might start work on the interior

          • Why do you think your powersteering cooler is not funtional? Maybe not for drag racing, but it's good to have If you take your car around the track. (obviously you do). Fluids get hot, either from being circulated and pressurized and depressurized, or heat transfer from other engine parts that are hot. I would leave the cooler on if I was you..

            • i said that it wasn't functionnal is because when Autoworx deleted my HICAS, they completely disconnected the cooler because it ran on the hicas side of the pump

so it just wasn't plugged into the p/s system at all
thats why i designed a way to reconnect it

are they Work Emotion CR Kai in 17x9 too?
i don't if the center diameter changes with the wheels size

because i designed it with my own measurements, Work Wheels USA never answered any of my e-mails
